A: the labels come separate, so you do have the option to slide them into the slot or leave them off

A: Sauder furniture is made from an environmentally friendly material called 'engineered wood,' a combination of high quality hard wood and soft wood materials which are residuals of other lumber processes. These materials are bonded together with a synthetic resin, and then applied to high heat and pressure. The result is dense, strong panels which are then laminated and cut into pieces. Engineered wood is made to precise design specifications which are tested to meet national standards.

It's large enough to hold tons of books and toys, but the height also works well for a kid. The directions were easy to follow, and I had no issues getting it out together.
