Q: What type of anchoring system is used? I currently have one with a "sliding bracket" feature. It does not hold up on the wall....leans forward.

A: This is a Metal Bracket with 2 EZ Anchors. These shelves must be installed in 1 Stud in order to meet the Weight Capacity. Also, the Arrow on the Bracket must be pointing toward the ceiling when installed.

Q: The directions for installing into a stud calls for pre-drilling with a 5/16" drill bit. Directions for installing a wall anchor only call for drilling with a 1/4" bit. 5/16">1/4" What is the actual size bit for pre-drilling into a stud?

You Get What You Pay For
The shelves are easy to install, but that’s the only big plus. We bought two for our son’s room. They must easily chip because we noticed a couple of corners had chips on them once we got them installed. They come with 4 screws to mount the bracket but only two anchor bolts. The brackets were mounted flush against the wall, but the shelves look warped or something because the ends of the shelf are NOT flush against the wall. There’s almost a 1/4” gap on each end between the shelf and wall. They’ll do fine for a kid’s room for now but I would not buy them again and I don’t recommend them if you’re looking for something nice. (You get what you pay for)

Wood was warped
Shelf was warped and we didn't notice it until after we drilling holes for the metal mount. It also only can with 2 drywall anchors, I would rather have had 4. The shelf was packed well so no scratches.

Two different models
I ordered this item multiple times. They came in two different models. The holes on the metal mounting brackets are in different shapes for each model. Some are round and some are oblong. The ones with oblong holes are much better than the ones with round holes. The latter didn't hold the shelf steadily at all and I had to use a few corner brackets to fix the shelf on the wall. I had sent emails to the customer service seeking help about how to avoid the wrong model. Proof of purchase had been provided but response is very slow. Shipping was also troublesome. But that is not the manufacture's fault. FedEx messed up my addresses very often. The installation is very simple. It only took me about 5 minutes to mount one shelf on the wall. They look neat and elegant. I only have a few small plants or small baskets on each shelf so I don't know if it could hold 17lb as stated on the manual.

I really like these shelves... not too hard to install, when you find the studs they are so sturdy, but one of them came with chipped corner. I was able to paint it, but was not offered a return option because I didn't take them out of the box for 2 months. I think this was due to the packaging, not the product.

Don't waste your time or money.
DO NOT BUY. If I could give this zero stars I would. It did not come with enough hardware to hang it properly. Upon going to the store to buy more hardware and checking to ensure everything was level, once everything was screwed into place we realized that the metal piece that the shelf goes on top of was completely bent, making the shelf every crooked. Long story short, this was not worth saving money to purchase vs purchasing more expensive ones from other places
