All our items follow the highest standards in North America concerning formaldehyde and particle board products, particularly CARB 2 and CPSIA regulations, which are all organizations that assure that items with any dangerous chemicals meet specific emission limits to guarantee your safety. These standards require us to test our products regularly to assure that our items are safe for your home. Therefore, our products have obtained their certification of CARB2 as well as CPSIA, which demonstrates the innocuousness of the emissions produced by the panels used in the fabrication of our furniture. Any smell coming from the product does not come from chemicals, but actually is caused from the mix of different species of wood. We can assure you that the smell will wear off! To help make the process faster, we suggest you keep the item in the room with the windows open for a couple of hours. Please feel free to contact us if you have any other concerns or questions!

This bookshelf doesn't look anything like the advertised pictures. The backing is cardboard and looks like it only has 3 panels because the other lines that mimick small panels are so faint. Don't waste your money.

I hate to say this. I am never one to leave bad reviews. But this shelf is garbage. One proton of the shelf broke within minutes of building it. It split where a screw went. And the white portion fell off in a chunk. Then the trim at the top would not hold in place with the 4 the screws it came with and when trying to fix it it split in half. I wasted $140 on a very cheaply made product. I’m super disappointed. And can’t recommend. It’s my own fault for buying junk.

When we put it together chunks of wood came out. It’s super cheap wood and the back of shelf is like a paper cardboard paneling. It’s not worth the money for sure. It’s a lot shorter then I thought it would be too. If it were like $20 I’d say it was okay but no more than that.

The shelves are sturdy but it came with chips in the wood trim. The back pieces are flimsy and bend. I would take it back if I could.

This is a super cheap bookshelf. The pieces don’t fit together right and the backing is crap. I’m very mad I bought this and wish I could return but it’s put together. I’ll probably end up using it in the garage....

We've bought two of these now and they've had the same problem (for me): The decorative molding at the top doesn't meet up well at the mitered corners. It looks shabby until I reshape the pieces to fit together nicely. I'm glad I have the tools to make it look good! The cardboard backing for stability is also cheap-looking as it showed some wear at the folds and that is visible from the front (less obvious when I fill up shelves with books). Assembly is fine and the furniture is sturdy enough.
