A: The space between the shelves is about 12-14 inches and they are not adjustable. I love the piece-it is very stylish.

submitted byStephanie - 8 years agoTarget staff supportA: Yes you could. You would have to purchase a separate kit that includes a strap and wall anchor. I'd recommend looking online, or creating your own with a sturdy webbing strap that you could wrap around each side of the back frame. Due to the angle of the front supports, as they angle to the back, it could be a little difficult to top over if it was climbed on... clearly this is just advice, so make your own judgment at your own risk.

Gorgeous bookshelves, happy I bought them
I bought two of these bookshelves 5 years ago when I moved out after college. I am a fan of mid century modern style and these bookshelves were exactly what I was looking for. They are sturdy and look great, and they were pretty easy to assemble. I did have to exchange one because the metal was bent out of shape to the point it was unusable, and the replacement one you can see a slight bend in the metal where the upper and lower half of the metal side join. But they have lasted and are very sturdy still. I wish the metal sides had all been one piece so you don't see the seams where you put them together, and I wish the shelves were solid wood instead of particle board. But hey, I bought bookshelves that I'd need to assemble at Target, so I guess I get what I pay for. As for bookshelves, they are great for displaying items like photos and decor. I even have my record collection on the second shelf from the top but I honestly would not recommend that since the sides are open. Not really suited for actual books, unless you place them horizontal on the shelves.

Second one was usable, technically
I picked up one of these shelves in store, only to find one of the legs was too damaged to assemble. I returned it and ordered one from the online store. This one was not broken, but there were definitely some manufacturing issues. The bottom portions of the legs were made incorrectly (see photos.) The holes for the lower back brace are on the wrong side of the legs, so it can't be installed. The crossbars are also welded to the wrong side, so there is a gap between the metal and the wood shelves. It is technically usable, but I wish I hadn't paid full price.

This is SO sturdy, and was very easy to assemble (even without help)! Came very very well packaged, no flaws. The metal feels sturdy and the wood feels solid. I expected the shelves to feel more like that cheap composite wood, but they are much higher quality than I expected.

I bought this shelf last year in grey and absolutely looved it! My uncle loved it so much that he wanted me to get him one too. I got him 2 walnut ones and super easy to put together. It’s also not as heavy or in a large box so we were easily able to take it to his second floor apartment (I don’t lift weights at all and 5’3”). I’d highly recommend this!
