A: Ck12: The tension rod is designed without a spring for a better hold and to protect against rust. The way the rod is secured in place is with a unique two-step locking system. To ensure a secure installation, each step of the 2-steps must be completed independently to ensure a proper fit and hold. A: don't plan on using as a tension rod. it will not stay up. the design is poor the internal workings have no spring.

A: This definitely rusts! It is not rustproof. Bought for 2 bathrooms and rusted.

A: Hi Janet: Our endcaps spin independently of the rod. This will help protect your drywall because it can allow the endcaps to hold in one place while the rod is turned to create tension. That being said, as with any tension rod on the market, some movement may occur depending on exactly how you are holding the rod, etc. Additionally, the age/condition of the drywall, age/condition of the paint, and layers of paint will all impact results. We suggest having someone hold each endcap in place to avoid spinning against the wall during installation to provide maximum protection for your drywall paint. Thank you.

As others have stated does not stay up. Some said theirs lasted a few weeks to a few months, this stayed up for just over a year… long enough to be outside the 365 return window that Target offers for your yearly membership. Would I recommend this rod? No, not at this price and design. Now that it has fallen it has left a dent in the rod and with the design of little to no tension I now have to figure out if or how to rehang it, $30.00 is way over priced for this garbage, should have known when I’d originally pulled it out of the box this wouldn’t be a solid rod. Thanks Target for taking my hard earned money and now I have to spend more to fix where you dropped the ‘rod’.

I think many reviewers are missing this: the hardware and instructions to mount it to the wall with screws is taped to the inside of the box. It’s easy to miss if you don’t know they’re in there. If it’s mounted with the provided wall anchors and screws it wont fall down. I’m returning it though because we can’t get the cap on one of the ends to come off so that we can screw it into the wall.

As other reviews mention, this rod does not hold tension, and the adhesive on each end provides nothing more than a false sense of security. Even trying to get it to tighten into place was a chore. After a couple weeks (of thinking it was securely in place), it came crashing down on my son when he was showering. I was grateful it didn’t split his head open, but it did hurt him.

Bought this to hold a shower curtain and cover the glass doors attached to my bathroom walls and bathtub in my rental. It came crashing down in the middle of the night despite having non-slip stickers on each end. The tension part of this tension rod is nonexistant and it just slips down the wall.

I think that this curtain rod looks nice. Sturdy enough without having to mount it into the wall. You can secure it with the double sided tape if you choose. It goes up easy with no tools or drilling but comes with the screws and anchors if you prefer to do it that way. I liked it enough that I purchased a second one.

It’s nice & all but I cannot get it to stay using the tension technique which sucks. Keeps falling down minutes after I put it up. I didn’t want to put holes in my wall but I looks like I will have to mount it using the screws.

After wrestling with this shower curtain rod and needing to exert a LOT of force to get to the tension to engage, it stayed up for a few weeks before falling in the middle of the night. Something inside must have broken because it cannot hold tension at all anymore. I tested it on a door frame to see if my problem was my shower's tile; nope, it's done. Seeing other people saying theirs have the finish chipping or wearing off, I can see mine already is, too. I will be returning it.

Initially, I thought this shower rod was perfect, but in a few weeks of use the finish started chipping off. I now have owned it for about four months and it continues to flake off. The base color is more of a silver. It’s not obvious as guests don’t have a tendency to look up, but if I pointed it out, it is noticeable. If I knew it was going to do this I would not have purchased it.

This rod does not work as a tension rod. No matter how much I tried, I could not get it to stay put, and it actually began to damage the pint and walls (brand new, btw). Absolute garbage, and I’m extremely disappointed with Target for selling it.
