Surprisingly good

I happened across one of these in a Goodwill auction and bought it. When it arrived, it was in tune, required no extra setup, and sounded fantastic. The previous owner probably set it up well. But besides that, it was lightweight, the frets ends weren't sharp, and the tone was far better than I'd expected. It wound up on a few songs. This bass has no business being this good at this price.

Pretty, but poorly made

This was my second bass, having decided to pick up playing again after 20 years. This came poorly packaged, in a dirty and stained case. The strap was poor quality, as was the amp cord. It was beautiful but the frets tear up your hand when running the hand up and down. The bass is light, but the neck is so heavy it weighs the front of the bass down. The tone knob had to be turned down to avoid static while plugged in, so only the E and A strings were loud, while the D and G were quiet. Within 24 hours I submitted a return. Ridiculous.

I thought it would be a bad bass guitar being so cheap, but when I got it, the string buzzed I was thinking about returning it, but then I used the tools that came with it and turned and tweak it, It sounds great and to my shock it stays in tune, I didn't tune it for weeks and it's still in tune today! I'm very pleased with this instrument.

I am a beginner to the bass, which is why I decided to buy this guitar. It seemed cheap enough, and the reviews seemed good enough. But that's all this bass is: enough. If you're a beginner, or someone that wants to buy a cheap bass, I would say that this isn't a horrible option, but I would STRONGLY recommend saving up another 100-200$ for a slightly better bass. This bass buzzes like crazy, and the wood that it's made from is very cheap, making the neck constantly dive. It's a little annoying and discouraging when playing but really, you get what you pay for. However, if you're insistent on buying this bass, then it's not a horrible option, I would just recommend that you get it looked at by a professional, a checkup that shouldn't cost more than 75$, just to get this bass sounding it's best!!

Excellent bass. Probably would be fine for a professional player.< br />Two bits of advice: 1) Make sure your tuner is set to bass and NOT guitar. 2) Use your thumb to tune it and not a pick.

Let me just start off by saying, I know nothing about playing the guitar or any musical instrument for that matter. I purchased the Costway Guitar as a gift for my business associate to seal a great deal as he is a guitar enthusiast. his aother side-job volunteer gig is teaching guitar lessons on the side. It worked like a charm.< br />< br />So, I asked him to evaluate the guitar. Here are his remarks:< br />< br />Pros the guitar strcuture:< br />< br />The metal parts are tight and rattle-free which is a good plus on the elctric guitars< br />There are slops in the gears< br />No rough spots throughout the guitar and the coating is nice, smooth, and shiny.< br />The frets felt smooth aalong both sides of the neck and no fret stock out to catch the skin of the fingers.< br />< br />Guitar accoustics:< br />< br />After playing for around 30 minutes some of the best country songs here are some of his opinions:< br />After he hit a big fat E chord, then going up the opening E chord progression to "Sweet Melissa", then do an E run starting at open low E up to 12th fret high E across all six strings....< br />< br />Hit a big fat G chord, then go to the opening Am D G climb to C, back to G & vamp opening chord progression to "It Could've Been Me"... then do the pickin' intro to "Go & Say Goodbye" followed by a fast G outtro...< br />< br />That'll pretty well tell you what the guitar will do in the areas I want it to do stuff...< br />< br />His overall opinion of the guitar is a solid A after tuning it a bit and passing his test.

Uneven frets

I would rate this higher, however the ninth fret is higher than the others... You can verify this by running a flat card along the fretboard. The ninth is not level. This means that even after adjusting the truss rod I can't play any note on the 8th fret without SERIOUS buzzing. Kind of a bummer to have to repair a brand new guitar.

Love It: Just Replace The Strap

It's great, I've used it non stop since I've had it and it hasn't had any issues. I literally just self taught using Rocksmith and this Bass Guitar. It's wonderful, I highly recommend to any hesitant beginners. That said, the strap straight up sucks. Buy a new one that is more comfortable for you and helps take off that guitar weight from your shoulders. It's a little heavy, so be sure to put it down regularly to not strain your shoulders; or just start exercising and working out your arm muscles.
