Agri-Fab 85 Lb. Push Broadcast Spreader

Junk! The bar on the bottom that rest on the ground when filling is too low and drags on the ground while you’re trying to spread product. You have to tip it too far forward in order to have it not drag, which is awkward and tiring. No thought put into this design! I was also spreading a fine granular moss killer and even set on zero the product was streaming out a big gap. Once you get started, you can’t take a break or you’ll overdose a spot when you start back up. Online search showed made in the USA, but this one is not! Go figure why it’s bad!! I’ll be returning it! I would NOT recommend!!!

The axle was too big for the bushings, had to ream those out with a drill. Doesn't agitate well at all, the hair pin is too far from exit hole. Handle constantly comes loose, the flow control gate won't fully close, and hangs up when trying to open. The rear stand drags across the smallest imperfections in the ground, very hard to push when loaded. Nothing good about this unit, needs to be recalled...

Went to use this Spreader for a 2nd. time & the plastic housing for the control cable broke. Not the best quality in my opinion for what I paid for this Spreader. So I've had to "BUY" a new cable & if it breaks again I'll buy a different brand.

Hi guys . I ordered the agrifab model 45-05313 on feb 18 2023 with some issues .First one of the wheels is bent from installing the tire on the rim does not hold air . Second had to reem out axle hole to install cotter pin . Third whoever is on the metal bender needs to adjust it 1 quarter inch its to big for the bottom support . Other wise the handle moves left to right everything is tight . At this point i would say if you guys cant even get this right outsource

Bought this to spread fertilizer and the first thing that failed was and agitator in the bottom of the spreader. Replaced it with a cotter key. Then, the gear box cracked and the gear now slips and wont rotate the spreading wheel. I own three spreaders and they are still going after 10 years, this one failed within 3. Tried to epoxy the gear box together where it cracked but the stress was too great and that failed also. Too much plastic being used in these high torque areas.

Cheaply make control does not hold setting. Fertilizer can thus flow out much too fast I used mine 2-3 times then junked it

Do not waste your money on this spreader, for the same amount of money go an buy a Scott’s, Earthway or Echo. The agitator does nothing to keep product flowing, so your constantly having to shake it to keep product flowing. It’ll constantly throw product back towards your legs no matter how slow/fast you walk. Do you homework and read the reviews, something I should have done.

I chose this item with expectation that AgriFab maintained a reasonable level of quality. This proved wrong as the metal tubes and stamped ends had excessive burrs and buildup that prevented simple assembly. The formed drive end of the axle was poorly executed and would not assemble to the wheel. Having worked in manufacturing and product development for my entire career I would say the problems that I encountered could be easily solved by a company that cares about their reputation.

I received the spreader last week and got it together today. It took a long time to get together. Some things did not line up but with brute force I was able to get it together. The control to meter out the products in the hopper is really flimsy, and using the control to close it it will not close all the way, I have to reach under it and and manually slide the plate closed all the way. And I could not find any way to adjust it. All the parts were there and I was not missing any parts. In this review it asks if I would recommend to a friend, I selected yes but with stipulations.

Get my BS spreader put it together and it doesnt even close all the way on setting zero it still leaks out granules. I didnt think when buys thus I'd have to modify it. For the money i might just keep using my old Scott's spreader.

The spreader control separated during installation. I glued it back together but the I can't open the spreader without holding in the metal piece while opening. What can I do to get this fixed?

The assembly instructions were just drawings, and not very good ones. Drawings would show types of screws which did not match up with what I was provided. Parts along the drive axle did not fix properly. It was a long and frustrating process to complete the assembly. Assembly of a simple product like this should be simple, quick and easy. It was none of those things.

I should have read the reviews before purchasing. We are two hours into assembly and only on "picture" 8. This is the worst I have ever seen. I am recently widowed and have gotten pretty handy at doing things on my own. We have given up for the day as my son has to go to work. Unfortunately, the how-to video on your site does not load. I will either have to return it or pay someone even more money to put it together. Very frustrating for the amount of money I spent. I can't even review the product itself since we have no idea how to put it together.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this about a month ago and I am so glad I did it made laying seeds so much easier. I put a 50lb bag of seeds in. It was easy to push and it didn't allow to many seeds in one place. Do not use on a damp day as the seeds do tend to stick. The handles have a nice grip on them and it small enough to store away.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This spreader works great. It spreads evenly and I like the big tires, this allows the spreader to travel well over rough and uneven terrain. It was easy to set up and worked like a charm. Smooth operation. I filled mine with two 20 lb. bags and had no problem. Its very durable. Its easy to clean so clean up was a breeze. I am very happy woth this spreader and i would definitely recommend it.

I have a long lawn and this helped me spread my seeds evenly and quickly. I've always used small spreaders, but this size is so much better. I would recommend this spreader to everyone.

Good spreader for the price. Could use improvements like a better control lock. Stop keeps moving to a wider opening. Cannot put to much pressure on lock nut for fear of breaking control housing. Owners manual needs improvement as it does not stipulate what direction the gear case/axle should be installed. This is only pointed out in the video on the website. Other than that it is a good unit that handles rough ground well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a mid sized yard so something like this wouldn't really be a necessity but have 3 larger dogs makes the difference. I need to seed and feed every year. I've spent the last 10 years hand seeding this was the first year I had a spreader and it more than cut my time in half and the seed lay was much more consistent.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Agri-Fab 85 lb Push Broadcast Spreader free from Tryit Sampling Community to test. The box arrived in perfect condition and all the parts were there. The directions however are pitiful and in need of a revamp. The direction page only had a picture diagram in a print size that would have been better if it had been larger and it really needs detailed written instructions. Because of the lack of detailed instructions it took me much longer to put this together than it should have. Some of it was difficult to get to fit together because the parts weren't exactly as they should have been. The larger pneumatic wheels made for a smooth and easy push throughout our yard. The wheels seem sturdy and I hope they hold up with a lot of use. Also the spreader's hopper is very sturdy. The flow is alright but I think if they added some sort of screen for the bottom to help sift the contents l it would allow it to have a better flow. Overall I really like this spreader.
