Agri-Fab 85 Lb. Pro Push Broadcast Spreader

The most important thing you need in a spreader is calibration. Absolutely can not be accurately calibrated. DO NOT buy this model.

I bought this product unassembled in the box. Instructions are horrible! The gate lever assembly was already installed on the hopper..UPSIDE DOWN! Had to drill the rivets out and install it properly. The schematics for assembly were mirrored (reversed) for some items and correct for others. Paint was too thick on handle assembly to slide up into bottom bracket and had to sand a lot of the paint of to get it to go in. The. Had to drill one hole out to get a bolt to properly align.

I bought this spreader mainly to spread salt or ice melt. First off the instructions are poor. There could be more written explanation and not just pictures. The problem I have is that when using chunkier product the cotter pins in the wheel and gearbox snap. I replaced them with 1/8” rod. I imagine if using a finer grade of pellet it would work better but not with the chunkier salt products.

The spreader has a large capacity and works great. Only two downsides one is the handle is a little loose even after tightening everything down. The second is it spreads 360 degrees, although that's how Brinly and Earthway are also.

The handle assembly had to be tightened considerably tighter that is should be to stop the handle from moving. Bolts are too long, they stick out all over the place, looks rough, not finished. Pattern is not uniform, some granules hit the frame and even come out the back. Hope I do not see streaks in the grass. Love the wheels though! I will see if where I purchased it will let me return it. I give this a 5 out of 10.

Just received it last week. Have just used it once. Seems to be well made.

(1)The plastic slide open door for the spread control only opens properly if you bend down each time and pull it with your fingers. The rod will not open the door the entire way to where you have it set. (2)The handle comes in 2 pieces to be bolted together. No matter how much you tighten the bolts, the handle is extremely loose swaying from side to side as you try to push. Very disappointed in this product.

tired of the "other"spreaders, get a agri-fab! solid unit like the other lawn products the only problem was 2 axle flanges missing from bag. Called 7:30 am explained the problem received a text 9:30am that the parts were in the mail with tracking info.Thank You, it's nice to deal with a company that cares after the sale.

I would have given it 5 stars but it was tricky to assemble, and I’m used to assembling all sorts of stuff. Directions were not very helpful. Once I got it figured out though it’s been great!

It was so nice that it could hold so much weight so one didn't have to start and stop so much. And the wheels didn't get bogged down in the grass!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I first opened the box, I was excited. The wheels are the first thing you will see. They were sturdy, beefy and and I got excited. I thought I got something that would last many years. Then, I put the spreader together, after some effort. The directions were adequate but not clear (Most steps were pictured and explained, however, their are a few places that were left for assumptions) The handle assembly is not tight and rattles. The handle bars are thin tube metal with plastic plugs and feel cheap. The hopper is good thick plastic and will hold all you want to carry. I think the whole unit will hold all you want dump into that hopper. Here is the problem......... You can not control the amount of product running through the pass door. The control lever is completely inadequate. This part of the build was a joke. You can not shut off the pass door. With the vibration of the machine, the more the pass door will open. No control over how much it opens. Therefore, you cannot control how much chemical you are spreading over your lawn. At the end the front yard of my postage stamp lawn, I was trying to turn off the flow of the spreader, but I couldn't I ended up burning a whole in my lawn. My intention is to disassemble this spreader and keep the wheels and throw the rest in the trash.

It was difficult to put together and once it was fully assembled I realized that I was not able to easily change the settings for spreading materials.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My initial impression when I opened the box was very good. The wheels on this spreader are way more durable looking than my previous spreader. Upon inspecting it further for assembly, I noticed that the dispenser section is made of all plastic, some of which is very thin. All the bolts necessary were included but the instructions were minimal. When I actually went to use this spreader I found it very easy to operate. The only disadvantage is I have to remember to pull the lever when I stop so that the fertilizer doesn’t keep pouring out on the ground. It did a very nice job distributing the granules across the ground. Overall, I am happy with this. Hopefully the plastic parts hold up!

Everything with this spreader. Is well made exept for the adjustable chute handle and mechanism. What a terrible design ! I have a spreader brand new and it does not work at all. I have to manually reach under the spreader to open and close the chute. I wasted a ton of fertizer and made a big mess . I am a very dissapointed customer !
