Instructions SUCK

This unit is well made but instructions are absolutely terrible. Not only are they not informative they are wrong on some steps & leave out steps on others. In the future I hope the company has someone write instructions who knows what they are talking about & not some desk jockey

Okay, but not ideal for my yard

Worked pretty well. My yard is sloped and divided, so I spent a lot of time raising and lowering the teeth and going in circles so I could aerate downhill. The lock for raising the teeth did not behave well. It dropped frequently when I hit a bump. I think I would have been better to have rented a smaller, powered unit.

Good unot bit lift handle needs extension

Aerator works great, assembly went well the biggest issue is the lift handle is much too short. It is to short to lift or lower while sitting on tractor. I searched on web site but no "extension " could not be found and a rope is not a practical solution. Hard to stop get off tractor lift and lock then back on tractor cross driveway then repeat .. Appears to be made well, will continue to review
Assembly and instruction nightmare

It seems like it'll do the job but definetly not buying another agrifab product. Pack came with the wrong instructions and now I'm learning as others here have that the instructions are not correct in many places. Some you can figure out easily or have a likely chance one of the two pictures makes more sense. THE MAIN ISSUE: you get all the way through the instructions and the handle line up but not lock in the up position at the end. You'll have come read these reviews and realize you have to put some spacers in the disc assembly to get the handle to move over. Which means dissasembling plenty of what you just did and fiddling with it. PITA!

We apologize for the trouble you have had with assembly this unit. We have created video instruction guides for this unit that can be found at https://video.engagementvisuals.com/agri-fab/. These videos walk you step by step through the assembly process. Please look closely at step 18 in your instruction manual and it instructs you on how to resolve the issue with the handle locking issue you have reported. Thank you for your support of Agri-Fab. Worked great the first time I used it. Made plenty of aeration plug holes prior to reseeding. Assembly took about an hour and 45 minutes with the assist of the assembly video. If you take your time, be patient and pause video for the step you're on you'll be fine. (Go slow to go fast.)

I bought this online and it arrived in 5 days. Assembly instructions were very good. It took about 4 hours to assemble by myself. I needed help with the last step, attaching the control lever, though. I only had to improvise once. When attaching the control lever one of the bolts was just a little too long to fit in the space. I substituted a slightly shorter bolt from another part of the assembly and that worked fine. Only one part missing, the cover for one of the tire's valve stems. I can easily live with that. Thanks for the great product and good price and I love that it is made in the USA.

MADE IN AMERICA! That was one reason I bought it. Thats term must not mean much anymore. A lot of reviews talked about missing parts. Surly they customer care group would have fix that by now. NO! Missing nuts and bolts, that I can buy at a hardware store, but not the spacer that was missing. Also, the end brackets had a burr from the press or shear that had a dull blade. Found that before I was cut. However, it does a nice job of aerating my yard.

Hard to assemble

I purchased this online and required assembly. First, the aerator knives are very sharp and have no caps over the sharp ends. I cut myself at least twice. Small caps over the sharp ends could have helped avoid this. Second, the drawings were small and at times difficult to follow. Third, no holes were drilled in the tongue or bolts supplied for attaching the middle brace. Fourth, the wheel brackets cannot be tightened to a point where the wheels are not bowed slightly. The entire assembly process seemed to be much more difficult and time consuming than necessary.

My apology as to the issues you encountered. There is a portion in the manual that cautions on the sharpness of the knives. (This aerator attachment has sharp knife points. Always handle with care and wear substantial foot wear when operating this aerator.)We at Agri-Fab value you as a customer and your opinions are important. Assembly instructions are flawed. Unable to get bolt in the handle after following directions. Seems to be spacer issue. Handle will not lock in the groove to hold up. To wet to use at the moment so have to wait until spring. Seems like it should work okay.

Purchased this 40" Plug Aerator and used it 2 weeks ago (mid-October 2024). Thank God there is a how too video available to assemble it. As one independent review stated - figure 2.5 to 4 hours. Mine took nearly 4 hours to assemble! You have to pay attention to things like which direction to attach the axle, etc. The whole assembly was not an easy feat, but manageable. I did not get cut by the plug spokes as some suggested. My biggest critique is the lever that engages the wheels (lifts the aerator up so that its on the wheels). There's a notch to slide the handle into a "locked" position ... yeah, right! that notch is not nearly deep enough to hold the lever. Getting the unit up on the wheels is crucial for when you're going over sprinkler heads or out of the lawn to the driveway or road. I'd have to stop, lift and then hold the lever (behind me) while performing that maneuver. Overall however, the aerator does what is says it will do. I added about 110 lbs in weight to get a deeper depth.

I purchased the 40 in. plug aerator and there was some parts missing. One part that was missing was one of the 3/8" whiz nut, so I went and purchased one. Also, one of the plastic spacers was missing, so I made one myself. Also, the lift handle could have a better notch to be in when the unit is raised up for transport. I used a tarp strap to pull the handle over into the notch. With this problems set aside, I think the unit is going to be good and do a good job for me on my lawn.
