Uses

poison ivy, oak, or sumac, insect bites, heartburn, sour stomach, acid indigestion, and upset stomach due to these symptoms

When using this product

When using this product : do not take more than the maximum dose in a 24-hour period,do not use the maximum dosage for more than 2 weeks.

Directions

For Use as a Soak in the Bath: Dissolve 1 to 2 cupfuls in a tub of warm water. Soak for 10 to 30 minutes as needed, or as directed by a doctor. Pat dry (do not rub) to keep a thin layer on the skin. For Use as a Compress or Wet Dressing: Add sodium bicarbonate to water to make a mixture in a container. Soak a clean, soft cloth in the mixture. Apply cloth loosely to affected area for 15-30 minutes. Repeat as needed or as directed by a doctor. Discard mixture after each use., Add 1/2 teaspoon to 1/2 glass (4 fl. oz.) of water every 2 hours, or as directed by physician. Dissolve completely in water before drinking. Accurately measure 1/2 teaspoon. Do not exceed recommended dose. See warnings. Do not take more than the following amounts in 24 hours: Seven 1/2 teaspoons. Three 1/2 teaspoons if you are over 60 years.

For Use as a Paste: Add enough water to the sodium bicarbonate to form a paste. Apply to the affected area of the skin as needed, or as directed by a doctor.

  • A: Thank you for your question, Emily P. Arm & Hammer Baking Soda got its start as a mined ore called trona. Trona is mined in the Green River Basin of Wyoming. Trona deposits were formed over four million years ago after the evaporation of great salt lakes in Wyoming, as well as in Kenya, Egypt, Venezuela, and the deserts of Central Asia. After trona is mined from these areas, the trona ore is heated to make soda ash (sodium carbonate), which is then dissolved in water. When carbon dioxide is bubbled through the solution under pressure, sodium bicarbonate forms and precipitates out of the solution. Q: Is 1-pound baking soda the same as 2-pound's? If yes, why the box is labeled "fresh for baking" on 1-pound baking soda and 'natural cleaning for your whole kitchen' on 2-pound's?

    HORRIBLE, SALTY TASTE IN MY COOKIES!!!!

    I am 76 years-old and I have only use Arm & Hammer Baking Soda in my baking recipes for years and years. The last box of A&H ruined my batch of Cranberry Orange Christmas cookies. What have they done to their formula? I purchased that A&H on 11/19/2025 and it was as hard as a brick (as were the others on the shelf!) and had to be crushed before being able to measure it. After the cookies were done and tasted, they were so salty we had to throw them away! I did not measure anything incorrectly and had made a batch on 12/2/2025 that were perfect. This was the first time I used this box of baking soda. I am afraid to make anymore holiday cookies with A&H Pure Baking Soda.
