I can see the theory of how this should work, but in practice the magnet does not consistently do anything to the plastic lock through the wooden cabinet, and the adhesive is extremely weak too (everything falls off). The weak adhesive ended up being a plus as I had to rip the cabinet open when the magnet would not UNlock the thing. I don't think these wood cabinets are particularly thick (less than an inch) or unusual, but maybe is better suited for other cabinets. Will be returning.
