Car Seat Base Not as Safe as It Should Be

We bought this travel system for our new baby. While the car seat and stroller seem fine, the base for the car seat included in the system does not come with the elevation foot to allow for the proper angle when installing. The book, instead, mentions using a rolled towel or pool noodle to create the correct angle. While this is legally acceptable, the elevation foot is the best method. The worst part is that the place to click in the elevation foot is ON the base! The company just didn't include it with the travel system base! We know this because we bought an additional base for our other car and it comes WITH the elevation foot. The police officer who checked our car seat bases told us to use the base WITH the elevation foot for the car in which the baby will ride most. He said that while using a towel/pool noodle is legally acceptable, it is not as safe as the built-in foot. How ridiculous that the place for the foot is there and the company deliberately left it off in this system! Even going so far as to print two separate books--the one for the travel system does NOT show the elevation foot while the one for the additional base DOES show the elevation foot. Leaving babies less safe than they could be just to what...save a buck???

I purchased this travel system when I had a girl after two boys because I wanted something pink for her and the price point was good. The Carseat itself is bare minimum without padding and the infant insert doesn't do anything to add comfort. As a result, my newborn really has her head lopsided while in the seat. As others have mentioned, the Carseat seems to get "stuck" in the base and you have to really work to get it out. We took the stroller out for two short neighborhood walks and the tires are already showing signs of wear. I'll stick to a jogging stroller with air tires in the future. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this set unless you just need a backup you aren't planning on using as a primary. I don't think the quality will last past two months or so let alone another child. That being said, this brand can deliver as my set for my boys was also babytrend and worked just fine. Just must be this model that's not worth the cost or discomfort/quirkiness of the seat.
