Q: What kind of plastic are they made of? Like, what is the resin or recycling number? If it's plastic 7, is it ABS or something else? I've read that it's not microwave safe and is BPA-free.

A:Â Hi Jim, thanks for your interest in our products! The Leakproof Storage Lids are made of Polypropylene with a recycle symbol #5. They are BPA free. Our canning jars are not made with tempered glass, they are not safe for use in ovens or microwave ovens, and they should not be used with hot beverages. They have been tested for water bath canning or pressure canning following approved recipes and guidelines which includes steps for preventing thermal shock. We hope this helps!

Convenient for things that will be in a stable, flat environment. But they are most definitely NOT leak proof. I’ve tried using them a couple times during travel and luckily had put the jar in a Ziploc bag. Most recently, I went on a road trip and used one for a jar with honey in it. Screwed the lid in tightly and put in a Ziploc. When I opened my bag there was a LOT of honey leaked into the Ziploc. Very disappointed.

I use these on my mini ball jars. I make my kids individual jello in the mini jars and the plastic lids are great for that. Since they don’t need proper sealing like canning, I like the ease and washing of these plastic lids.

These are amazing. I have replaced all of my metal lids on my Mason/Ball jars with these. They keep food fresh, and you can throw them in the dishwasher. With metal lids, they rust whether you hand wash or use the dishwasher. I no longer have to deal with that ever again. Love, love, love!

They leak badly even when sealed tightly. Don’t even think about shaking anything fluid with these kids on. They work perfectly fine if you need a replacement lid for your jars but not ideal for beverages on-the-go.
