Q: How many lids are included?
A: Just received these in my order - can confirm it's 6 lids, the person who said 8 is mistaken.

Q: Can these be used to seal jars of food that have been freeze dried and packed with oxygen absorbers, for long term storage?
A: These are not good for long-term storage. Long-term storage requires the vacuum seal the metal lids provide. These are great for a couple days after you break the seal when you take the can OUT of storage.

If you are vacuum sealing your jars, please check with the manufacturer of the vacuum sealer for guidance on using these lids with their product.

Q: Would these fit a non-ball mason jar?
A: Ball lids fit Kerr jars, too.

Q: What is the height of the lid? The only dimensions provided are the total package dimensions. The jars almost touch the top of my shelf so I want to make sure they will fit with these lids on.

submitted byBall Team - 2 years agoBrand expertA: They are a hair over 3/4 inch tall, just under 2 cm. Jars are about 2mm taller with these lids than with the metal ring lids. They just barely fit on my shortest shelf that is 6 and 3/4" tall.

Q: Can be used for canning?
A: No, definitely not. Canning requires the metal lid, but once you *open* the metal lid to eat what's inside, these are great for refrigerating the open jar for a couple days if you didn't eat it all at once.

Q: Which size Ball jars do these lids fit?
A: Any jar with a wide mouth opening. Pints, quarts, even half-gallons can be bought that take the same wide-mouth lid. Regular-mouth jars will NOT fit. (There is a different product for those.)

Q: Can these fit the BALL canning jars and are they tight enough? I don't like the metal lids because they leave a rust and was wondering if I could replace these with the metal ones because I like using my Ball jars for smoothies and storing snacks.
