A: These are not good for long-term storage. Long-term storage requires the vacuum seal the metal lids provide. These are great for a couple days after you break the seal when you take the can OUT of storage.

A: No, definitely not. Canning requires the metal lid, but once you *open* the metal lid to eat what's inside, these are great for refrigerating the open jar for a couple days if you didn't eat it all at once.

A: Any jar with a wide mouth opening. Pints, quarts, even half-gallons can be bought that take the same wide-mouth lid. Regular-mouth jars will NOT fit. (There is a different product for those.)

A: No, these aren't for canning. In order to get a good seal for preserving foods you need the vacuum that the metal lids provide - these can't do that. Also, these are sized to fit the jars well, so they wouldn't fit over a metal ring.
