Excellent staying power
If you want a sunscreen that actually works through sweat and the beach, this is it. It's the only one i have found that stays on through snorkeling and heavy sweating. I don't mind the white cast because if you rub it in enough it dissipates. It's a bit thick so o reserve this for my face and neck and usually use a spray on my arms. My one complaint is that every time i buy it the price goes up and the tube shrinks.

Caused INTENSELY Itchy, Raised, Red, Bumpy Rash
I bought this product and used it myself first. I applied it after my moisturizer. It is thick and a bit difficult to remove or wash off afterward. I had a little rash, but I didn't have a big issue with it. This weekend I used it on my 8 year old and he had a horrible allergic reaction with a red, bumpy rash, intense itching, and swelling in his face. The rash was only on his face, neck, and upper back and chest where I had applied the sunscreen. We ended up at the urgent care center. He got an epi pen prescription and he has to continue drinking a lot of water and Benadryl for two days. I would not recommend this at all. It is likely that having applied my moisturizer first helped me to avoid a severe reaction.

Don’t buy especially if child has sensitive skin
Word of advice. I purchased banana boat kids sun screen. Well Nico got into it and broke the squeezer. Some got on my cushions in my sunroom and stained the cushions. It bleached spots on the cushions . So what does it do to our children’s skin.

Horrible Purple Legs
Horrible! I can’t get it off!! My legs are purple. I’ve taken several showers, scrubbed with a loofa and my legs STILL have a layer of white, which mixed with a red burn, turned my legs purple! Still can’t get it off. ☹️

Do not recommend
Do not buy this product, it burned my skin and left welts and some blisters. Can't imagine it harming babies the same way. Strongly do not recommend.

Bought this because it was reef safe - burnt after 1 day and now need to find a swim shirt to cover the rest of the trip. Wouldn’t recommend or purchase again

It's good. Yes, it can look white. But the I have to use it every day and I don't want to use the chemical sunscreens. Europeans ban them. So, I put it on, rub it in, wait 5 minutes while I'm getting my uniform on and hope that by then, most of the white is gone. I usually have to wipe a towel on the thicker white areas to get rid of looking white. But it is safe and effective and about as good as it gets.

Got a rash/ reaction from this!
It worked really well at first. Since it is a thick, lotion like texture it was easier to apply and wasn’t as chalky. However, after washing it off for the night I noticed my face was red and irritated and I also did a test on my forearm which also had a rash. I have added photos of my skin after using for one day! Note: I usually have smooth and clear skin, no redness bumps or texture. Now my face is burned and irritated and woke up with small break outs! I would definitely recommend a patch test first!!!

Bring back the original!!!
Our family used the old Banana Boat Kids in the yellow bottle (used to be available in a 12 oz. pump, which was awesome!). For years and years we used that sunscreen. We were absolute devotees. Then they discontinued it and replaced it with this new one. While the active ingredients are the same, the formula is totally different. The old one was a normal lotion consistency, easy to rub in and with a white cast that faded quickly. And while it did settle into skin creases (inner elbows, etc.), it came basically clean with normal showering. This new formula is like GLUE. It takes forever to rub in, and leaves your skin looking white all day. When my kids hop into the pool or lake, the water beads up on top of this sunscreen, somehow the white cast gets even worse, and they look like wet, blobby ghosts. It migrates into creases and their hair line, leaving thick white streaks. And it is IMPOSSIBLE to wash off. Even with repeated scrubbings with a soapy washcloth, it adheres to the skin like superglue. My little one spent a while digging in the dirt yesterday after I applied this, and now the DIRT is also stuck to her like glue. We scrubbed and scrubbed in the shower last night, and she went back to camp with blackened legs this morning anyway. PLEASE bring back the old formula (AND the old larger pump bottles!). If you did, it would be the only sunscreen our entire family would use for the rest of all eternity. Until then, I'm shopping around for something that isn't impossible both to apply and to wash off. So disappointed.

Not For Sensitive Skin
I bought this just yesterday before a beach trip and let me tell you this was so irritating on the skin. It itched and did not spread well. I didn't like it on the face because it was itchy and drying. Very much not tear proof. I don't even know if it worked properly as I tanned alot even applying it every 2 hrs and my friend's face burned.

ALLERGIC REACTION- HIVES And HEAT RASH
As someone with very bad eczema I tried to find a mineral sunscreen product for sensitive skin. I applied this generously on my face neck arms and legs and went under the afternoon sun for about an hour. My neck was burning in pain with heat rash. The skin was soft to touch and stinged whenever I touch. This product caused my neck to get burnt instead. When i went out under the Sun without any product, I wouldn't even get painful skin. I had hives and itchy blisters over my whole body. It made my existing eczema wounds even itchier. Its even worse than my usual eczema breakout. The hives were uncountable. I am pretty sure there is something in this product that irritates my skin because my face hardly had hives even if I ate something wrong. This product is super thick and hard to spread but I thought thats the good thing (means its really full of minerals). I dabbed everywhere so that its easier to "spread" instead of rubbing only. It was SO HARD TO WASH OFF. i had to scrub the dead skin cells when showering in order to get rid off it. Not recommended for people with eczema. I thought i spent my money on a good product. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY.

Best sunscreen!
I don't really understand these negative reviews. Mineral sunscreen isn't supposed to absorb into your skin - that is the point as it is supposed to help reflect light preventing the sunburn. In addition, it makes sense it is hard to come off as you wouldn't want to get in the water and have it come off so quick it wouldn't work. That being said - I love this sunscreen! It lasts for hours and hours even after swimming, hiking, and walking outside. I have only had to reapply if I am literally in and out of water for more than 3-4 hours and wiping myself off. The white mostly disappears after a few minutes as well. It can be hard to get out of clothes but with a standard spray it comes out fine.

DO NOT USE!!!
Banana boat, you have 100% failed me. I coated myself with this sunscreen before going onto the beach. I was out there for an hour and now it's 2am and I am wide awake with muscle pain and headache (sun poisoning) from this terrible sunburn I have. It is terrible....like I had nothing on at all. My children used it on their faces and a spray on their bodies and the only area that they got burned was their noses. Moms, take these reviews seriously and do not use this lotion..not on yourself and definitely not on your children.

Need image of back for active ingredients
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Hey Bananaboat. I need a picture of then back of the product to figure out the active ingredients. There are products out there that blend chemical sunscreens with physical sunscreens. Those are not what I want.

Our favorite sunscreen
We've been buying this one for several years, and after trying several others this is the only one we buy for our whole family. It protects even my kids' fair skin (red heads) and doesn't irritate my daughter who has very sensitive skin!

Great protection
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live in Florida and sunscreen is a must. It is hard to find a sunscreen that is not sticky and leaves an oily residue. My first impression was how smooth this went on my kids skin. I also like how it is not heavily scented. I would recommend reapplying every few hours if you are in and out of water. Great product for sure!

Completely USELESS!!
How is this ‘sunscreen’ still on the market!?! Thank goodness my husband and I used this on a three hour beach visit BEFORE using on our five year old and we are both very burnt. We reapplied after the first hour and again 30 minutes before leaving and we still got sun burnt! I can’t believe anyone has actually used this and given it a positive review. I suspect those reviews are from consumers who were given the product for free and didn’t actually use it. I’ll go by our tried and true Blue Lizard Sensitive Skin 30spf.

Thank you!
After a year of contact dermatitis and trying at least 50 sunscreens this is the first one I can use. Developing contact allergies at 40 has been a challenge. And sun makes them worse. So finding a sunscreen that works for me has changed my life. No more itchy red bumps after the sun. Thank you!!!!!

Easy to use and works well
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm really happy with this sunscreen. I love that it has fewer chemicals - better for us and ocean life. I found it very easy to apply. It rubbed in easily and didn't leave a white film on our skin which can be hard to find in a mineral sunscreen. Will definitely continue using.
