Did the formula change? Too watery
I have been a diehard Banana Boat Aftersun lotion user since it was recommended to me while on vacation 20 years ago. I have gone through many bottles but my most recent purchase is super liquidy the consistency is more like water than lotion, did the formula change because of this is what it is supposed to be like now, no thanks.

Watery Mess!
What happened?? It’s like using messy milk instead of a luxurious lotion. This has been part of my daily full-body moisture care for 15+ years. At first I thought I had a bottle that went bad, because I keep at least 1 backup in the closet and thought it got old. I threw it away and bought another bottle. Nope! I like to mix it to soften the scent of my HEMPZ, but unfortunately I have to find something else. Bad move, Banana Boat. You took a year-round winner and turned it into a waste of money.

Amazing to DISAPPOINTMENT
This lotion used to be my go to lotion for the past 10 YEARS. I would rave to everyone how fantastic it was. Over the past two or three years they have raised the price, and decreased the quality. Once a nice thick lotion is now literal yellow water. Very disappointing how they changed the formula. Would not recommend anymore. Store brand aloe lotion is better than this one.

For the Banana Boat Aloe Aftersun lotion, we made some updates to the formula. The resulting new formula was slightly thinner than the old formula and we discovered that the new formula thins out even more over time and that has led to some consumer dissatisfaction. Please understand that the current product is safe to use and there are no issues with it except that it might have a slightly thinner consistency than before. We have immediately started producing the old formula and that formula should now be in market.

From GREAT to WASTE of money.
For 20 years I have purchased only 'Banana Boat After Sun Lotion' for my full body skin care. The product was so thick and luxurious that I needed only one application to maintain comfort level for my dry skin. Toward the end of 2022 the product changed. It had become much thinner. I checked online and the backlash to the thinner lotion was deafening. When I contacted the makers of Banana Boat they said they were going back to the original thicker formula. This never occurred. Fast forward to 2025: the lotion is actually more thin! How is this possible? I can only assume it is 'Profits over People'. The new formula lotion is so thin, I have to use twice as much. It is no longer worth continuing with this product. 20 years I've gone out of my way to find and pay the price for this product. Not any longer; I'll find something else. Such a disappointment.

I have used this for years and as a pharmacist I have recommended it to others as a great moisturizer. Now I' m not sure what has happened to the product to make it a watery mess which I can't apply as I have always done.

As a decades long user of this product, I am so frustrated that they changed the formula. I had seen on this website a while back that the manufacturer was going to return to the original formula, but I have yet to find it in stores. The new version is a waste of money and I have thrown it out. I won't purchase it online anymore because I don't know what I will get. Now, every time I enter a store that carries the lotion, I check to see what version it is by turning the bottle upside-down. The old formula stayed put for a while. The new formula immediately runs into the empty space. I haven't found the old formula anywhere in quite a while which is why I checked back here to see if there were any updates to when it might be available. In the meantime, I am now testing out substitutes from other brands.

1 Year ago you indicated that the formula was changed back. As a result, I buy one bottle at a time to see if it is still the watery mess or the good thick stuff. All of it is still a watery mess and I return it. How soon will this get fixed. I would go through 20+ bottles a year and have had to stop. I no longer recommend it as well. I found something close to your old formula from TopCare / Topco, that is sort of getting the job done.

As a redhead we loved this stuff, but like many others, the new formula is really disappointing. It doesn't nourish, doesn't coat, doesn't help with sunburn like the old version did. Hope BB will go back to the original.

Totally different than the original product. Really thin, terrible quality. Do not buy if you remember it as a thick moisturizing lotion. It is watery goop now.

I used to love Banana Boat after sun lotion but the formula has changed. It is so watery that I need to use the pump over a sink because it shoots out like a faucet. I have read that they are going back to the old formula and I would like to know when. But for now very disappointed…..

Bought two bottles about a month ago. The first bottle was ok. The second was so watery I threw it out. This is not the first time this has happened. Found out they changed the formula so if you’re lucky you might get a good bottle. If it sits too long? It gets extremely watery. Kind of tired of wasting money on this product. They say they changed the formula back to the original. So when will this be available and all the crap bottles be off the shelves?

I have used Banana Boat’s After Sun Lotion for I think over 20 years as my everyday lotion. I used to love it, but now it’s yellow water. At first, I thought it was a bad batch I purchased. Nope… bought another bottle and it is liquid as well. Very bummed out and disappointed.

Changes to product are very disappointing
Been using for years and the change in product is not good. I was very disappointed when we got some and used it last week. This new stuff is like water. I guess we won't be using this anymore. Hopefully you guys change it back.

Used to use it as a kid as my grandmas and 2 weeks ago I bought it for myself and kids. We love it! By far my favorite after sun product. Leaves the skin feeling really hydrated and soft!
