When I saw this Barbie, I was so excited. I was 56 when I became a Type 1 Diabetic. Opens up the conversation that there are more and more adults becoming a Type 1 and since it is an autoimmune disease, nothing we have done caused it. I went to order one for myself to keep and they are sold out everywhere so I check daily and I'm disappointed that they are still not available. That shows how many people are touched by this disease. I hope she comes back in stock soon. I wish I could pre-order.

Finally. First thing she doesn’t have a medical alert bracelet and second she doesn’t have low snacks on her if her blood sugar goes low. I am type 1 and have been for 41 yrs since age 1.
Proud of you, Barbie/Mattel

As usual the ones with disabilities get the short straw. Nice to make a doll but not cool to have it so undervalued you thought you could get by with that little stock. Make more options on hair/skin/genders and produce more stock if you really want to give representation. t1 is way too common for this sell out on day 1.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is such a great Barbie!! My girls haven't experienced diabetes in our family, so it was a great lesson for them! Our neighbor is 5 and was SO EXCITED to be represented! She immediately knew the tools the Barbie had and was so excited to play with a doll like her. Representation is SO important!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids love playing with Barbies, and we were so excited to see one who has Type 1 Diabetes, even with a monitor and pump. We have a close family friend who is T1D, so this was an excellent opportunity to explain what each item was and what it does to help keep people safe and healthy. Truly a great addition to the Barbie lineup!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We were so impressed with this inclusive Barbie doll that has diabetes. We love how Mattel makes these dolls so everyone feels included and not left out because of their differences. It was fun to play with her. The outfit is so cute and we love her hot pink insulin pump! Her curly hair is fun to brush and style and her handbag is adorable. I wish I had one in human size! We think this doll will spark awesome conversation about how we are all unique and different in our own way! Go Mattel!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The product is of great quality. I’m not sure of the messaging. While we want every child to feel special, does a diabetic doll send the right message of fun and worry free enjoyment? I feel it’s the opposite and creates a thought pattern of poor me and now my doll. Is this doll a reminder of an affliction? Playing is supposed to develop and relieve stress. Plus it’s illogical and children are simple. Dolls don’t need to watch glucose. I truly hope the plan isn’t to sell accessories- that be just sick. I’m not enthusiastic about this doll, no matter how well it’s packaged or quality. In my eyes, it’s a fail.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My product was a Barbie doll that had diabetes. My girls enjoyed playing with this doll after I explained why she had the machine connected to her. The girls pretended she became sick and they had to take her to the hospital. They talked to her and told her what they were doing to her.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Breakthrough T1D Barbie, which is for juvenile diabetes. It was nice to see that there was such a doll . I showed it to my granddaughter and she had many questions about what the accessories were. The doll comes with a patch on her arm and the insulin pump that attaches to her abdomen along with a purse.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a type 2 diabetic my daughter thoroughly enjoy this doll. When we opened it up, her eyes lit up, and she said "a doll just like me" This doll has 5 points of articulation, a dexcom type sensor, and a continous glucose monitoring system in her arm. My daughter pretended this doll had to watch what she ate to control her sugars, and even had her experience the ups, and downs of being diabetic. We think this doll will be loved by many.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 3 year old daughter opened this Barbie. She immediately loved it. The first thing she commented on were her shoes, “Wow I love her shoes!” She said. Second she commented on her blue dress, “Look at her blue dress!” Third was her hair, she wanted to brush it right away. She did notice the stomach device and referred to it as her “purse”. She didn’t mind it at all. She hasn’t noticed the pink patch on her arm yet. I assume she thinks the Barbie has a sticker on. My wife and I tried to explain what it actually was as best we could to a 3 year old. My daughter has recently named the Barbie Eva. We gave her pigtails yesterday and my daughter brought her along while we ran errands. She’s a big fan and growing more attached to it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So on April 23, 2025 on a Wednesday late afternoon we recieved a new Barbie doll for my daughter Sandy. She then opens the box and her eyes lit up with amazement on how beautiful and pretty her new Barbie was. The doll was suited in a beautiful bright blue dress. The packaging on this product was very nice with its colorful panels and letters. As my daughter opened the package. I noticed that this particular version was a diabetic Barbie. She comes with an insulin pump, a diabetic wrist monitor and a cellularphone. I told my 5yr old daughter that the attachment to the side of the dolls belly was an insulin pump. The pump is needed to control and monitor that persons blood sugar levels. Overall I understand the concept behind Mattels introduction to showing kids that it is okay to be born with a disability. These type of toys show kids to be familiarized with seeing someone with an insulin pump and are not shocked or startled to see someone wearing one. My daughter Sandy did not mind that her doll had a disability. She loves her new Barbie in which she named her Barbie Dulce which means Sweetness. Thank you Mattel for making my daughters day and sending her this beautiful product.
Great for inclusion and understanding!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was the perfect doll for my daughter as she has a friend in her kindergarten class with type 1 diabetes. This line of dolls is wonderful to teach children about differences. She loved the Barbie in general and I loved it for the educational experience. The doll comes with good accessories, but the only thing is the insulin pump does not stay on well. It is a plus that the monitor stays on the arm.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The first thing I noticed about this particular Barbie was how she looked overall. Her body seemed much more realistic! The accessories she comes with definitely demonstrate how someone with Diabetes would need to monitor their sugar and I like the heart shaped sugar monitor on her arm. I also like that you can remove the monitor on the waste. I noticed that my daughter was inspired to use the handbag, the phone and the monitors in various forms of pretend play!
