Great idea but didn't work for me. The screws I think are too short and don't connect properly to the base of spider. I had to jerry-rig it so it would work on boat but not sure it's gonna last.

I had a sand bag
I had a sand bag base for a few years. It worked well on my boat. On the most recent base that I ordered, one of the black tethers attached to the base was of poor quality and tore after two weeks.

It does not spin around
It does not spin around in the wind as designed. Nor does prevent birds from landing in my boat. Very disappointed.

It sounds like the removable pressure fit top may have been slightly derailed during the shipping or installation process. Don't worry, the fix is quite simple.
