Good value, and lasts a long time,
No issues whatsoever. Been working fine for 5 years. Battery seems to take a little longer to charge now, but no complaints.

Going Strong 8yrs later
Bought this trimmer 8 years ago and couldnt be happier. I knew it was plastic when I bought it so I didnt expect to be able to beat on it like an industrial tool. When I use the appropriate string for it, it works exactly as advertised. I am just now (eight years later) noticing that my batteries aren't holding a charge like they used to.

Good Choices
You get a much better product selection when you order on-line. Often your garden/lawn supply store only stocks a few SKU's in trimmers whereas if you order on-line, you get the size and price that you need. I trust Black & Decker's quality and convenience of ordering.

Five-cent spring breaks the whole unit
This line trimmer works OK for what it is, but a MAJOR warning on this tool. There is a small spring in the trimmer head that maintains the alignment and action of the lever assembly (really just a piece of molded plastic). When this spring goes bad (and it will, it failed on TWO B&D line trimmers) you will NOT be able to get a replacement one. B&D has decided it is better to force you to buy a new trimmer, and to toss the old one into the toxic waste pile.

Be advised plastic components are very fragile
I’d love to write how great it cuts, lightweight, and adjustable, with good battery life but having had one which I previously purchased 8 years ago break and recently replacing it to have it break in the same place is super disappointing. The plastic mechanisms that control the line spool broke and is nonfunctional after just a few uses. No way to replace, again really disappointing.

Waste of money
Automatic string feed does not work. Do not buy. What a waste. Worked for 5 minutes, then string too short and bent to do anything.

Major issue
Just bought one to replace a 2+ year old model that ran flawlessly until a few weeks ago when it would run and then stop running. Replacing the battery and charger made no difference. It would run sporadically, which was maddening. I bought a new one and ran it until the battery was used up (about 15 minutes), put a fresh battery in and it wouldn't run. Exact same issue as I had with my 2+ year old model. Waited about 6 hours for the original battery to recharge and it still would not run when I replaced the battery. The next afternoon while I was boxing it up to return it, I pushed the trigger and it ran! I returned it as clearly there is a major issue. My guess is they have faulty switches in this model. A relatively simple fix yet they do not make the part available to purchase.

Better than I expected
Better than I expected. Have used it several times and haven’t had to put on a new line. My old one used a whole spool every time I used it and it was much more expensive than what this uses.

Unfortunate return
Low mark due to battery and charging. At 73, I love the light weight, it gets the job done! However, takes 3 hrs to charge and only runs 15-20 minutes max. 2nd day/time using, I ran out of string. The price was Good and on sale. Yes, returning but I will have to spend more for a longer run time and Quick charging. ❤️ my Target, no matter what!

This Five Stars for Me
This is my second one of the same model with the first one lasting just under 17 years. I was convinced once this one went I would replace it with a gas powered Model but there is just no justification for it this one does the job and does it well. I'm certain there are people out there with larger property then me but I have one acre fenced in with a lot of hedges, trees, deck and pool in other words I cannot complete any landscaping without having to do a lot of weed trimming and edging to complete the job and this has never failed me. So I have to change the battery half way through not really a big deal I have 4 one is always charged. Its worth every penny and extremely affordable.

Cheapo plastic
Just got this and almost afraid to use it. Most of the parts are plastic now instead of metal. The edging wheel has one arm instead of two. Safety trigger has changed and very uncomfortable. Ready to sell it and buy another brand. This was my fourth one.

switch problem on both of my trimmers
I bought black and decker trimmer in 2018, another one in 2019, and on both trimmer the switch control will not work. I am 78 yrs old and like the light weight feature but very unsatisfied with the switch control on both trimmers..I will not buy another black and decker battery operated trimmer

Good unit with a terrible feed mechanism
Overall, I quite the unit, particularly the ease with which it goes from conventional trimmer to edger. And I like being able to interchange batteries with my other B&D gardening tools. But the automatic feed has never worked, not from day one, not with the original spool, not with new spools, not with hand wound spools. And the Dewalt/B&D repair was not able to fix it either, and hinted that "they all do that". So every few minutes, I have to turn it upside down and manually unwind some string, which gets annoying. With a working feed, I'd give the unit 6 stars out of 5. As is, I give it a generous 3 stars.
