On the black icing, as long as you allow the black to dry fully before adding other icing colors it will not bleed, So we would encourage you to do a test item before doing all of the decorating with how they will be using the product.- Auria

This product ruined a cake I was decorating. The consistency doesn't stay constant so it changes from liquid to thick and the tip kept clogging. Don't use if you need any sort of precision.

I don’t know what happened but this icing dissolved all over the cake. I wrote “Happy 40th Birthday” but all that was left at serving time was runny, black splotches instead of writing. It was kept cold until right before serving. My husband and his friends didn’t care and ate it anyway, but it’s not reliable.

Very hard to use
I would hope this brand can make the icing writer easier to use. I spent a lot of effort to cut the tip to open. It is very hard to cut. Even after that, I will need to do it again to make the tip larger to write. It’s not easy to squeeze so the writing was very bad. I decided to return this item.

I'm no baker but I like to have fun when hosting get togethers. Bought a gel icing kit but still needed black. Bought this and it was extra messy compared to my others (stringy) but I made do. Put the cupcakes in the fridge for the right. Come back in the morning to this. Really upset to have to put these out for my SuperBowl party.

This ink looks initally beautiful when used but within minutes it begins to spread turning whatever you designed into a avant garde blob of disaster. I made so many homemade cakes from scratch and decided to save time with this icing only to have everything ruined. Just make your own royal icing!

The consistency is too runny. Every time I used it, it would bleed and turn into a big blob. I would it imagine it to be very difficult to write legible letters. I gave two stars because I will say that it is pigmented.

Maybe I got a bad tube, but it would not come out (and yes, I cut the tip of the tube off). I thought maybe it needed some warming up, but that made it too runny and it left a big black splotch on the cookie. I had to run out and get a Betty Crocker writing icing at the grocery store because this one was completely useless. I've never had this issue, but I usually buy the Betty Crocker one.

Dont bother.
Awful consistency. Says ready to use. I did massage it first to mix it thinking mehhhh it’s been on a shelf in the store for a while… nope didn’t help either tube. Started out super dry and then just leaking black watery icing after that…. I even tried with the second tube sticking a toothpick in to try and get the dry part to mix better…. 🤦🏼♀️

Ruined my sons birthday cake
I got two of these, they were so hard to squeeze out and then they just let a bunch of black liquid out all over. I thought the first one may have just been defective so I opened the second one just for it to happen AGAIN. It says “ready to use” nothing about have to shake before using to make it make sense as to how it came out in the completely wrong consistency.

Such a waste. Even with a steady hand, evenly distributed pressure, and some experience decorating baked goods this icing comes out so clumpy. The color also bleeds so once you do get your design right it still turns into a mess.

Ruined my daughter's cake
Bought this to draw the eyes on my daughter’s unicorn cake. She was so proud of it because she had decorated it herself. Put it in the fridge and when we came back, the eyes and mouth had completely run, making it look like it had cried while wearing gobs of mascara. She was devastated. I usually love Target products, but this was so bad.

Terrible
Not something I thought I'd write a review on. Last year for my sisters birthdays he asked me to decorate it a certain way and she had gotten the better crocker version that worked great. She asked me to do the same thing this year and I decided I'd try this 1 since I didn't think you could get this wrong. It was terrible to work with super thick, didn't come out right so it was hard to squeaze out, thankfully the design she wanted it played into the wonkyness of the design but I'll never use it again!! If you're wanting to actually design or write anything accurate DO NOT use this!!

Color bleeds and not able to draw
It was too hard to draw lines as the flow was not fine. However managed to draw lines. But the color started to bleed on the white icing . Very disappointed. Did not expect high end quality. But the purpose of buying it not achieved. Wasted money.

Awful waste
These bled all over place the next day. Made cupcakes last night and this morning I went to take them to a party and they look awful. I'm in tears, they ruined my hard work.
