Q: Does it work on plaster walls?

A: Hello! Thank you for your question. This stud finder is not meant to be used on plaster walls and it may have some trouble finding the actual studs becasue of the density of plaster. As well, plaster leaves behind an uneven surface within the wall and the stud finder can have difficulty finding the actual stud. Thank you for choosing Worx!

What a waste of money, can't even find a stud in the same place it said there was one seconds before and calibrating every single time gets tedious and annoying so I will be throwing this was of money away. At least I got a 9V battery I can keep even tho it's a generic one. Small consolation for $12.99. DO NOT BUY THIS UNLESS YOU WANT A NON-FUNCTIONAL STUD "FINDER"

It finds studs, that's why it gets 3 stars. Can't accommodate different sheathing thicknesses or materials and the audible "beep" indicator is obnoxiously loud for no apparent reason. Even on a loud construction site this thing would be annoying. But, it finds studs in basic wall constructions so if that's what you're after it will work.

Completely inaccurate! Ran a couple passes over where it said the stud was and it bounced around each time. Measured 17” between studs. Borrowed a neighbors and it was spot on with the stud. This one was off and would have missed the stud completely

You have to “calibrate” the device each time you use it. Put it on the wall. Press the button. Wait until it beeps at you. Then move slowly. Once you get to a stud, the yellow lights will move up until you hit red. Have used this for many years and it works fine once you get used to the “calibration”, which must be done each time you release the button.
