Q: How does this come apart to clean? How many filters?

submitted by targetq - 7 years ago
  • A: Just one filter came with the french press. The filter on the bottom unscrews from the filter and two other pieces for easy cleaning.

submitted bySan - 7 years ago
  • A: One mesh filter. The filter comes apart in 2 or 3 pieces (don’t have it in front of me) and it unscrews from the plunger to clean.

submitted byCorelia - 7 years ago

Q: how much water can be used with each fill? i'm surprised there are no water markings on the glass to know how high to fill.

submitted by elp - 3 months ago
  • A: The ideal fill level for the Brazil French Press is about 1 inch below the top of the carafe, just below the spout. This will align with the bottom of the filter when you reinsert it after filling the carafe with hot water.

Q: How much coffee do you put in? Do you fill it to the black bottom rim? Coffee seems a tad weak.

submitted by Joe - 9 months ago
  • A: The Bodum recommendation is to use one rounded teaspoon or one Bodum scoop of coarsely ground coffee for every 4oz of water.

Q: What is the difference between the caffettiera and the brazil?

submitted by kk - 2 years ago
  • A: The Caffettiera French Press features a stainless-steel outer frame and Chambord style lid while the Brazil French Press features a lightweight design that uses a single piece base and handle that connects to the lid without needing a full carafe frame. They both include a stainless-steel plunger and filter that is precisely fit into a borosilicate glass carafe.

Q: I bought this item recently and upon the second use, when I pushed the plunger down, I saw some coffee grounds float through a gap where the plunger meets the glass since the plunger was a bit dented- is there a way to fix this gap?

submitted by coffeeguy420 - 4 years ago
  • A: Please reach out to support@bodum.com for assistance they will be glad to help investigate further and provide a replacement part of deemed necessary.

Q: Can this be kept in a fridge overnight for cold brew?

submitted by anon - 4 years ago
  • A: Absolutely! We recommend removing the lid/plunger and covering the carafe with saran wrap to keep the coffee aromas in and keep out any other aromas from your fridge out while your coffee brews overnight. Enjoy!

Q: Can the glass be removed and put in the microwave?

submitted by drpiano - 4 years ago
  • A: We do not recommend placing the carafe in the microwave to re-heat coffee. We recommend pouring the desired coffee into a microwave safe cup or glass and re-heating in that manner.

submitted byBodum - 4 years ago
    Brand expert

Q: Is this a thermal carafe? How long does the coffee stay hot in it? (It falls under the thermal category but I don't see it anywhere in the description.)

submitted by kb8641 - 5 years ago
  • A: The Carafe for this Bodum Brazil French Press is not considered thermal. If you need to re-heat you coffee, we recommend pouring into a microwave safe mug. Enjoy!

Q: Can I make lose leaf tea in this?

submitted by Dee - 5 years ago
  • A: Yes! All of our French Press Coffee Makers, double as tea makers. You can use the loose tea leaves in the same way that you would use coffee grounds in the french press.

Q: How many actual 8 oz. cups of coffee, do you get?

submitted by Doberman Lover - 6 years ago
  • A: The 8 Cup French Press holds 34 ounces of coffee, so you would be able to get about 4 - 8 Oz. Cups of Coffee. Note that French Press cups are measured at 4 Oz/cup; hence the 8 Cup designation.

    Glass carafe hinders brewing

While good in theory, the glass carafe doesn’t allow for optimal heating while brewing occurs. I gave this one away and bought a Stanley that keeps the water and coffee hot for hours.

Great flavored coffee lovers! Easy to use and clean. Followed reviews for perfect measurements. One scoop per cup is okay, but heaping spoon per cup plus one more makes a robust cup. Thank you to experienced users for helpful tips. Highly recommended!

Perfect! It's a simple and affordable french press. The mesh on the press can get a bit misshapen during cleaning but just bend it back into shape if that happens. I use it many days out of the week

I bought this in October of 2023, and the part of the lid that holds the rod of the plunger in place has snapped off, so the plunger doesn't work anymore. Before this, I really enjoyed this for how easy it is to clean.

Do not purchase - it exploded on me

Upon pouring boiling water into the french press, and putting the top on it, it exploded. Glass flew (pictured on the ground) hot water and coffee grounds also flew everywhere. I am lucky I was wearing thick pants, or I would have severe burns. I have reached out to the manufacturing company multiple times and they have not responded. I reached out to Target and they gave me a refund, but no other form of compensation which was disappointing.

The original is best - 9 months ago
I love Bodum brand, just not this one. I normally buy the original but because of the reviews and price I took a chance. The mesh does not reach far bottom enough to properly press the grinds. Also, a lot of grinds escape because of the gap between the meash and bottom. The other negative is the top, the original brand allows for swivel to ensure the liquid is kept totally covered where this style gives only one option. Returning to purchase the original one again; its worth the extra $5 in my opinion.

Have had this for about a month and no issues so far. Using it at least once a day, sometimes twice. Do agree with others that it’s not really 8 cups, but it’s the perfect size for coffee for 1 or 2 people.
