Q: Can I make hot coffee on it, would the glass be resistant?

However, the included permanent stainless steel filter is specifically designed for cold brewing with coarsely ground coffee. Using it for hot coffee may result in excess sediment and could be messy when removing the filter from the carafe. If you're looking to make hot coffee, we recommend checking out our Pour Over or French Press coffee makers - both designed specifically for brewing hot coffee and equipped with permanent filters. Q: Can this Bodum Melior cold brew coffee maker also be used for hot coffee brewing? I normally use a metal pour-over filter that rests on top of the glass and pour hot water over the grounds. Is the glass safe to handle boiling water directly like this?

The MELIOR Cold Brew Maker is made of heat-resistant borosilicate glass - the same durable glass used in our French presses and pour over coffee makers - so it can safely handle hot liquids. However, it's not ideal for pour over coffee, as it lacks a cone or holder to support a filter. For the best pour over experience, we recommend one of our dedicated pour over coffee makers, which are designed specifically for that brewing method. Hope this helps!

I bought this and when I got home and opened it there was a crack at the bottom. That glass definitely feels very fragile.

Perfect size to brew coffee or tea. Read a lot of reviews. Glass is fragile, so for the ones that say it feels like it can brake easily, of course it can even be as thick as the carafe is. For those who say the coffee grounds sometimes pass through, maybe you are grounding your coffee incorrectly. This filter is long, almost the entire length, which has more area to brew tea or coffee more evenly. The carafe has measuring marks with the cups printed. People are reviewing this product like its a drip machine. It's not. The product quality exceeds the price and I got mine 30% off. Happy me

It works well in my opinion. I saw a review before that said they don’t have instructions on how to make the cold brew. But you can just do a quick search if you don’t know how to make it and you could find many sites to help you with it. That having been said, it’s been working well for me!

Ok first off the instructions are useless. Doesn't tell you how much coffee to use how much water to use and how long it can stay in the fridge before going bad. I don't know if I dilute it with water or just drink it when poured right from the pitcher? I made it last night and did dilute it with water due to it being super strong. I like the idea but will be returning and buying the kitchen aid brand because it does have the directions how to use and how to dilute and how long one can leave it in the fridge

The design is nice and the product itself feels like it is good quality. When I poured the coffee into the filter it got a little bit messy around the rim of the crafat, so I might suggest putting the coffee in the filter before you insert it back into the pitcher. The only issue I had is putting the filter back into the pitcher, it didn't specify exactly which position it should be in, as it has two taller edges, not sure if that matters or not? Also, I maybe used a too fine of a coffee grind, but it did leave sentiment of grounds on the bottom. Also kind of left a film on the inside of the pitcher above the water line. I am excited to try this for cold tea as I feel this may be better. But overall I think this is a great product, especially if you're a cold coffee drinker!

Design is well made and durable. If you prep well (ie making your coffee to let it sit overnight and using the right coffee grinds), you will like this product!

I love the strainer on the inside and the “mesh” holes are fine enough I haven’t noticed any grinds getting through. I love cold brew but you can never find premade in decaf and this is just so easy to use. I want a second one for work.

I didn’t actually find it that useful as debri from the teas I brewed would make it through the filter. In the future I may try just putting fruit in the filter for flavored water. I think a product like this is for someone who occasionally brews but if you’re drinking cold brews everyday, the lack of a decent filter may get old fast. The glass also seemed fragile, like one decent knock could chip or shatter the canister.

The grounds went through the filter, so I had to pour the coffee through a paper coffee filter in order to drink it. The glass is very fragile and feels like if you were to put it down on the counter the wrong way it would break. In fact, it was in my fridge and it exploded due to slight pressure from surrounding items (paper milk cartons) and got coffee everywhere. I would not recommend.

Regarding the glass breaking in your fridge, the MELIOR Cold Brew Maker is made from high-quality, heat-resistant borosilicate glass, which is fridge and microwave safe. However, as with all glass, it can break if exposed to pressure or drastic temperature changes. For example, if hot coffee was brewed in the MELIOR and then immediately placed in the fridge, the sudden temperature change could cause the glass to shatter. Other reviews mention the grounds leaking through with fine grounds, but this product is meant for cold brew and French press which both require coarse grounds. It works as promised and I personally like the handle for easy use. Something my other cold brew container does not have. This will be my new go to!

But downsides are: it takes at least over night (12-24hours) to brew AND it takes twice as much coffee. So, yes, it works. It tastes the same as normal brewed coffee would taste. It just takes way longer and double the amount of coffee. It is pretty slick though. I didn't realize you could brew coffee without heat.

I’m so happy I got to try this coffee and tea set. BODUM has made an environmentally friendly way to make and enjoy fresh cold brew coffee and tea. There’s no hassle with paper filters or little plastic individual coffee brew cups. Those things end up in the garbage and landfills that pollute our environment. This set comes with a reusable filter and the pitcher you brew in becomes the pitcher you store your coffee or tea in the fridge. It’s so fun and easy to try different flavors and recipes to make that perfect midday pick me up. I will definitely be using this coffee and tea set from now on.
