Q: People want to know there is at least 10% N-Ha as that is what we’re being told is the least amount that is effective. Not telling us makes me believe you have a much lesser amount. Or be transparent so we know that what we are buying is worth it.

submitted by Marlo - 4 months ago
  • A: Hi there, thank you for reaching out. The assertion that 10% nano-hydroxyapatite is required to be effective is incorrect and not based on current science. The studies asserting this percentage are often over 10 years old and used a particle size approximately 10x the size of the nano-hydroxyapatite in Boka. Smaller crystals, like those in Boka, have been studied to be effective at much lower levels than 10%. While Boka does not share the exact percent of n-ha in our toothpaste, we proudly use one of the most effective, and well studied forms of n-Ha available and is one of the few forms of n-ha studied for safety and approved for sale in Europe

Q: What percent Nanohydroxyapatite

  • A: Hi, I was curious too, and I used AI to find out. This is what it said: "The exact percentage of nano hydroxyapatite (nHAp) in Boka Ela Mint Fluoride-Free Toothpaste is not explicitly stated ;(

  • A: Hi there, thank you for reaching out. We don’t disclose the exact percentage of n-Ha in our formulation for proprietary reasons because we have spent significant time and resources to develop an optimal formula. We can proudly share that Boka toothpastes feature one of the best sources of nanohydroxyapatite that is commercially available, and this form of n-ha has been thoroughly evaluated by the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) as one of the few forms of n-ha permitted to be sold in Europe. Additionally, we carefully selected the n-ha used in Boka products for its superior performance and demonstrated effectiveness in clinical studies.

Q: 1. Is the shape of the nHA particles rod shaped or an equally safe shape? 2. Since the % concentration is not disclosed how does Boka prove the efficacy of remineralization compared to a high quality 10% nHA toothpaste on the market?

Not for me...high levels of heavy metals

I really wanted to like this toothpaste, but I just found out that this brand has high levels of heavy metals, including LEAD. LOTS OF natural brands do!! UGH. Also, they are vauge about the amount of hydroxyapatite in the formula. Honestly, I think this is too controversial to use for me and my family. I asked for a refund. Simple is better for us! From what I can gather by talking with my dentist, is it's important that I rest my mouth between meals, and let saliva remineralize teeth, naturally. Eat healthy & cut back on the sugars and simple carbs, and acidy foods/drinks. Brush morning and night. Rinse with water after meals... and floss. Harsh ingredients in toothpaste kill the good and bad bacteria. Just like an antibiotic will do to the gut. Everyone is different, but our body is so capable if we treat it right (in my humble opinion!) Balance...

Discrepancies on wording packaging and size

I’ve been using Boka for over a year now and it does help with sensitivity. The issue I’m having is the difference in packaging everytime I buy this thing. I just bought it 1/19/2026 and now it does specify if it whitens. Compare it to the one I purchased from Boka 2 months ago. See photos. And the purchase before that was different too. It use to say gently mineralizes and anti sensitivity. Also, target sells a smaller size 3.4 oz vs the standard 4 oz.

Better products in price range.

This toothpaste contains 1-2% actual hydroxyapatite when you separate the ingredients. You need minimum 10% for it to be effective. There are other brands in this price range that offer 10%+.

I do like that it’s non toxic and fluoride free, however I personally like my toothpaste a little bit more foamy. This one doesn’t foam much unless you use a ton of it. Not sure if all the non toxic toothpastes are like this, but it’s personal preference. Cleans my teeth well and leaves my breath feeling fresh. However, I do feel like it’s a bit pricey, but most nontoxic stuff is

Great toothpaste

I’ve been buying Boka for years off Amazon. I’m not kidding when I say it works. I completely reversed a small cavity on the side of a molar. I was pleasantly surprised to see the brand being sold at Target but also makes me worry they sold out as a company. I really hope not!

Doesn't live up to hype

Not a fan. Really wanted to like it but it made my teeth and gums hurt. I’m not sure if I’m just sensitive to a specific ingredient or if nHA just isn’t for me.. Will probably give the kids toothpaste (since the formula for kids are usually more gentle) a try and see if it’s any better. I can’t really give a recommendation on if it’s good or not since I’m not sure what part of the toothpaste is causing me pain. I have sensitive teeth but I haven’t had tooth pain this bad in years so I do think people should proceed with caution.
