moldy filter after first use
I was really disappointed with the Canopy humidifier filter. After just one use, the filter turned black and moldy, which is both concerning and gross. I expected better quality, especially since this product is supposed to help maintain clean air and hydration. Mold after just one run-through completely defeats the purpose. I followed the instructions carefully, so I don’t think this was user error. For the price, I hoped for something more durable and reliable. Definitely not worth it unless they improve their filter quality.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience. I completely understand how seeing discoloration on your filter after just one use can be concerning, and I’d be happy to clarify what’s happening. The Canopy filter is designed to capture minerals and other particles found in tap water before they are dispersed into the air. The discoloration you’re seeing isn’t mold—it’s actually a sign that the filter is working by trapping minerals like calcium, magnesium, and iron. Depending on your water source, these minerals can cause the filter to darken, sometimes turning brown, pink, or even black. If you have hard water, this buildup can happen more quickly, and in some cases, you may need to replace your filter more frequently than the standard 6-week cycle. You can adjust your subscription frequency in your Canopy account if needed. Using distilled water instead of tap water can also help slow down discoloration.
