Capstone Games: Rorschach Strategy Board Game, Ages 10+

This game, named after the Swiss psychiatrist Herman Rorschach, uses some of his famous inkblot images (and many new ones) to put 2 teams to the test. The teams earn points by correctly guessing how their members paired randomly selected words with these inkblot images. Reading the other players and learning their associations is the key to success, but the real fascination lies in seeing how differently these images can be perceived, and in discussing and explaining the pairings afterwards. You awake from troubled dreams. Looking around, you see that something isn’t right. White walls with no windows. A locked door. “How are you all feeling?”, a male voice asks. You and the others turn your heads to the voice. In the corner, half-hidden in shadow, an elderly bearded man sits at a table. He introduces himself as Professor Rorschach, a psychiatrist. There must be some mistake, you say confused. You’re all perfectly fine. “Of course you are,” smiles Rorschach. “Let’s just make sure by doing a few tests. Or should I say, playing a game.” A player secretly pairs three words with 3 inkblot images. That player’s teammates chooses one of the images and attempts to pair the matching word with it. Before the word is revealed, the other team gets a shot at pairing the word and image to steal their points.
