HABA King of the Dice Board Game for Ages 8+

The art and materials are of the best quality, as Haba games tend to be. The instructions are either unclear or the game is not fun—it’s one or the other. We played this after dinner and soon the kids were begging to go to bed. Adults are 40+, kids are high school, middle school, and elementary aged; playing games is a frequent and favorite family pastime.

My youngest is 8 years old and she seemed to catch on pretty easily. Nothing like Yahtzee really except for there being dice in the game. The game is fun and challenging and keeps us on our toes. Lots of laughs and fun! I recommend adding to your collection of board games.

Dice and cards make it a fun mix to play. We usually roll the dice in the box lid though since it can get a bit messy knocking all the pieces of the board on the table. Either way still a great game for the whole family.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son liked this game a lot as soon as he saw it. Bright color box, treasure, dragon, and castle. Everything a nine year old boy would love. I have to say that the game is not easy to learn. We had to read the instructions and tried to find YouTube videos. There's not an official tutorial video on YouTube, unfortunately. We were able to figure out. We had fun. Very well made and well thought out strategy game.

With humans and fairies, dwarves, and gnomes, all living peacefully together, you must find new land before it gets too overcrowded. With the luck of the dice and using your cards, your can build your land with the best citizens to make your very own kingdom. You can see who gets the most castles and the biggest territory to win the game. Super fun and keeps the kids entertained for hours.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The King of the Dice Board Game is such a fun game to play there are Humans, Dwarves, Fairies, Gnomes, and elves that have come together from all over to live peacefully in the kingdom, but things are starting to get crowded. New lands need to be found, and quickly with skill and luck players roll the dice to claim the best new citizens and occupy as many connected spaces on the map as possible. The player, who can secure the best lands for their growing kingdom and the most gemstones, wins. This is a kingly strategic dice and board game. My grandchildren and son love playing this board game and it gives them something to do other than being on the computer all the time. You’re finally a king in this game and you’re going to need skill and luck with the dice to entice the best citizens to your kingdom. Although watch out for scoundrels and dragons otherwise your kingdom will soon be a wretched wasteland and you’ll have to watch as someone else is crowned King of the Dice. Each move consists of 3 steps (1) Roll the dice a maximum of three times. (2) Acquire new citizens plus possibly establish a new village or take a penalty card and (3 fill up the row cards. I highly recommend this game to have all-around fun for the family and you will really be glad that you did.

Its not an ordinary average board game which is really cool and something they liked too. They liked all the characters and how the game itself worked. They always play for hours so this is a good way to keep the kids busy!

It does remind me of Yahtzee in a way. I played with my kids from ages 7 to 9. They were able to catch on pretty quickly. The games comes in a nice sturdy box.

I think the game would be good for children of all ages. It seems there is more luck involved than needing strategy. The game is well constructed and it was fun to play.

Then kids are amazed that everyone can play at the same time. It's rare to find anything that my 9 and 14 year olds will play together until now. The game does come with small pieces and the age range is 8-99 but any age would have fun playing this I believe I definitely recommend trying it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This HABA-King of the Dice Boardgame is nice. Wasn't one of my kids favorites. The directions were a bit difficult for their age (8). They lost interest when they finally got it set up. Pieces are nice. Easy to store.

However, I was very interested in King of the Dice because it seemed as though it was more strategic than most of our other board games and I wanted to test their skills. Our 8 year old LOVES the game. He's become quite a strategic player. Our 5 year old hasn't quite caught on yet, however, he still plays and enjoys it with us. We have family game night once a week and this game has come out to play on many occasions now.
