I love these poles. Have had them for 4 years and have abused them from ski slopes to summits of Whitney, Izta, Orizaba & Toluca. I was suspicious of how they'd hold up to serious abuse, but they've held up beyond expectations.

hiking poles tightening needs to be improved upon

They are light and yes easy to use but no matter how tight I make the screws they keep shortening when I need most coming down the mountains. Frustrating. The screws silver portion need to have an indentation for regular, small screwdriver to tighten even more.

Inexpensive carbon poles with issues - one fatal.

Good lightweight carbon poles for the price but have a a couple of problems - one fatal. First, these poles "hummed" with every ground strike. I finally found a combination of length adjustments that minimized it, but it is annoying. The fatal flaw is the strap adjustment. Strap adjustment was difficult from the start and jammed after three short-ish section hikes (<20 days total). CMT had no suggestions on how to un-jam them. Now having to replace the poles.

My first time using hiking poles, what a game changer! I found these recommended in an ultralight backpacking on a budget article. They have not disappointed me! They are very easy to adjust, just don’t forget to tighten the little screw back after you’ve done so. I’ve been a casual hiker for many years, and was missing out. I can add a lot more mileage now that I have these to conserve energy. The cork handles are really nice!

hiking the uphill of the Scenic Trail head to the 9 Bell Trail to reach Archers Fork Trail loop is a big big big one for a beginner hiker like myself. With my backpack weighing 33 lbs total with food and water is a big deal. I was vlogging our adventure and the trekking pole only get a little hit of fame since its not being seen very well on my side of the camera... but my husband has it working everytime. We both have the same Trekking poles but in different color. Lightweight and very sturdy. We used it in a few more hiking trips in Yellowstone National Park, more of Wayne National Forest and the Grand Teton area. We want to rack up more miles on this baby and take it to the Appalachian Trail in 2021. Thanks for the good product.

Excellent poles for the price. Lightweight, comfortable cork grips, look good and do their job. They withstand the rugged terrain in NH's White Mountains.

Comfortable and functional

I'm really happy with these poles. I've only used them once so far, but borrowed a similar pair from a friend for a difficult hike before purchasing, so I knew what to expect. The cork is very comfortable. A friend on the same hike had Colombia poles, and got a blister on her hand from the plastic that was part of the cork handle. So I like that these Cascade poles are all cork on the handles. I also prefer cork because foam handles from other poles I've used turn my hands black. The hike was a semi-difficult trail 9.4 miles out and back 3,000 ft elevation gain. I was grateful I had them!

Good poles for the price!

I've been hearing about Cascade Mountain Tech trekking poles for awhile now and finally decided to try them out. They are great for such inexpensive poles: cork grips and quick locks (both non-negotiables for me), lightweight, and they come with a good selection of tips and baskets plus a great storage bag. On the downside the locks have wiggly alignment and the poles vibrate (rather loudly) when in use. (Full review at youtu.be/MMuTEd8sJTQ.) Overall, worth the money.

NOT just for hiking

I have a neurological condition and my balance is not good. This means that I literally use my poles every day, multiple times a day. I constantly push harder than I should probably should and I have never had these buckle, break or complain. my first pair is going on almost 3 years now. The only things showing wear is I have gone through a couple tips and the texture on the grips are almost smooth. They do need to be re-adjusted sometimes - not a big deal... easy. To do. I gave my 92 year old Mom (5'2") a set and one of my brothers (6'1") some. They are tough, strong, light and very adjustable. My only constructive criticism is that I wish the grip was a little bigger and the rubber tops can slip on smooth concrete floors.

Question

I really like my poles but wonder why they keep having to be screwed back tight all the time. Also one of my poles has broken- the bottom section. I use them every day between 4 and 6 miles.

Great poles, great value

I bought these poles for a few days of hiking in the Adirondacks and they are amazing. Light, durable and easy to adjust. I even saw a few others on the trails with these same poles which is always a good sign. I looked around and did some research before purchasing and like others have written, other poles of equal quality cost 3x or 4x more. And if you've never hied with trekking poles, give it a try, makes all the difference in the world!

Great Poles - Better Price

I am typically of the belief that you get what you pay for, so I was wary of these poles, but I thought for the price I couldn't go too far wrong, as you can easily pay 3 to 4 times for poles like these. I'm an avid hiker and have been using poles for years. I also don't just use them to steady myself, but to propel me forward, and to cushion me going downhill, so I am pretty hard on them. Just got back from a 24+ mile day hike up Half Dome and Glacier Point and the poles worked great. BTW, if you are going to use poles; put your hands through the loops the correct way - up from the bottom, like a cross country skier.

I love these Cascade M.T. carbon fiber poles and I have Leki and Eddie Bauer aluminum poles but prefer the Cascades. My biggest backpack with them was a November '17 Grand Canyon North Rim-to-South Rim four day trip. At age 74 I needed everything LIGHT and these Cascade CF poles were perfect.

I'm 77. Hiking without poles is not longer much fun especially with a 60 lb. pack. These things worked perfectly. Light, strong, adjustable. I'm getting my wife a pair.

I bought these poles a couple of years ago to start section hiking the AT. 532 miles later, I am still using them. I love these poles. They have withstood so much rocky abuse and a few pitchings of my hammock as a tent! They are durable, lighter than the high dollar poles, and very easy to adjust. Love these poles!

Awesome Poles

I took the carbon fiber poles on my 9 day Tour of Mt Blanc. LOVE them. Fit perfectly in checked luggage and performed beautifully on my trip. My hiking partner had another brand of collapsable poles as did another couple I encountered. Both had to buy new poles in Europe. I love the cork grip and the shape . The quick lock is easy and interchangeable tips came in very handy for a variety of conditions. I'm giving a pair of these for Christmas.
