Horrible logistics
I went to the Cupertino Target to pick up this item, which showed as in stock (3 available) online. However, it wasn’t in the indicated aisle — in fact, there were no flashlights at all. After asking for help, I was told the item had arrived that day and to place an online order instead. I did that, only to receive a cancellation email two hours later. The website still shows limited stock at that same location, which is quite frustrating. I’m generally a big fan of Target, and this product looked great on paper — just disappointing not to have the chance to try it. Thankfully, Safeway was still open, and I managed to find a similar item in time for my trip.

Great for camping and all ages!
My two toddlers loved these headlamps! Very aesthetic looking and useful. Lights are very bright. They did loosen up over time and would slide down but it wasn’t too big of deal.

Great light - problems to change batteries
Bought the head lamp last year. Great light but spending more than 30 minutes to open it so far. A bit annoyed right now

Bright and Comfortable
The Embark Headlamp can be used for many outdoor activities and dark areas where you may need lighting. I am excited to use the headlamp for camping and outdoors, light is often needed while working but holding a flashlight isn’t always productive. The orange headband fits comfortably on my head, is slightly stretchy and easily adjustable to fit different head sizes. The headlamp has 2 buttons - one for on/off and the 2nd button changes the light mode, there are 5 different modes available. The lamp is also on a hinge attached to the strap allowing movement if needed. The headlamp takes 3 AAA batteries and has a 30-hour run time. Overall, I am very pleased with the headlamp and look forward to the many uses during the upcoming camping season.

good for tights spots
This headlamp is good to have for many situations. When camping or even just going outside, this is perfect to have on my head and shining the light ahead of me. This is really handy for when my hands are full and I can't carry a flashlight. I also found this really helpful in tight spaces like my attic and crawlspace so I can see perfectly without having to worry about carrying it. The light itself has many modes, and they all look great.

Amazing little light Amazing little light!
This is a great headlamp for outdoor activities. My husband and I love to go camping and hiking in the summer. Sometimes a flashlight is not always convenient when you need both hands. The headband is orange in color and fits comfortably around my head. It has four light modes (High Spot, Low Spot, Flood, and Red) It is easy to operate, and switching between light modes is as simple as pushing a button. I like that this headlamp is water-resistant since it will be used outdoors and in all kinds of weather. It does require 3 AAA batteries. This headlamp will be one of the first things I pack for all my camping and hiking adventures.

bright and comfortable
I got this headlamp for my dad as he's always working in dark areas and holding a flashlight is not that convenient all the time. This headlamp is very bright and works really well. It was comfortable and the elastic strap was easy to adjust to secure it on his head.

Some concerns about slipping adjustments and ruggedness of build
This is my first head lamp so I don't have anything to compare it to but I was somewhat disappointed in its build quality and suitability for active activities. The headlamp weighs only 2.5 ounces (3.8 ounces with 3 AAA batteries installed) but all concentrated in a small space on the forehead. I'm quite aware of it on my forehead and I had to tighten the headband more than I found comfortable to keep it from shimmying down my face as I moved. The headband feels very smooth (likely contributing to the slipping issue) so it takes very little pressure to move the headband adjustment but it has slipped on me a few times when I picked it up or took it off. The angle of the headlamp can be adjusted from straight ahead to about a 45 degree angle downward in front of you. It takes very little force to change the angle of the headlamp and I found myself often accidentally changing the angle when trying to push it back up when it had slipped down. The hinges on this adjustment feel rather fragile and I am concerned it may be an early point of failure. It was initially challenging to unlatch the battery compartment given the plastic is very smooth and I had trouble getting a good grip on it. But, it has become easier with a few openings. The battery compartment is held closed by a small plastic lip that engages a recess in the opposing plastic flap. It doesn't seem to catch very firmly when closing it. I could see it popping open in a hard drop and am concerned about how long it will continue to catch properly. On the plus side, the buttons are easy to find and press with the lamp on. They feel robust and well-made. Power is separate from mode and power is raised while mode is recessed, making it easier to find and press the buttons while wearing and making it easy to avoid accidentally turning it off while trying to switch modes. I find the spotlight modes nice and bright. They're the ones I anticipate using the most. The floodlight on its own is very dim, to the point I can't see a use case for it. Also, note that at highest power (spotlight or spotlight plus flood), you can only expect about 2 hours of light from a set of batteries. Per the included instruction sheet, the modes are: high (bright) spotlight (280 lumens - 2 hours), low (reduced brightness) spotlight (140 lumens - 5 hours), flood (20 lumens - 30 hours), flood+spot (300 lumens - 2 hours), red (I think this is spot. No lumens or run time listed for this mode). I can see myself getting some use out of this doing home repairs or auto work but I would be concerned about depending on it on a camping or hiking trip.
