Celestial Seasonings teas are an invitation to put some magic in your mug! More than 40 years ago, we created a truly soothing herbal tea to help folks wind down the day. We named it Sleepytime, and it quickly became a favorite bedtime tea. Today, our calming Sleepytime blend of botanicals is available in herbal, decaf, green, and wellness teas, so you can always find a perfect cup for your bedtime routine.

Brew the perfect cup. Boil: Bring fresh, filtered water to a rolling boil. Steep: Pour 1 cup water over a tea bag in a cup. Steep 4 minutes, squeeze and remove bag. Enjoy: Sweeten if desired and enjoy. Blended with care from seed to sip. Thoughtful Sourcing: Most of our herbs, botanicals, teas, and fruits are purchased directly from farmers around the world. Celestial Seasonings pillow-style teabags are made with a blend of abaca (a plant-based fiber) and wood cellulose, and they are heat sealed for quality with food-grade fibers made of polypropylene and low-density polyethylene. Polypropylene and polyethylene are thermoplastic polymers which are used for tea bags industry wide that are approved as safe for food contact and align to federal standards. Celestial Seasonings is committed to transparency in its manufacturing processes and to addressing consumer concerns about microplastics. Our tea packaging is safe. That said, we are working closely with our supplier partners to transition away from thermoplastic polymers to plant-derived materials.

Q: As someone else commented, valerian root is not listed as an ingredient, yet reviewers talk about the valerian it contains... Is the ingredients list truly complete?

It is listed under the Supplement Facts. The Supplement Facts also lists Chamomile and Tilia Estrella. Hope this helps!

Q: No where does it mention valerian root in the ingredients but the box info. claims to contain valerian. Not happy about it being excluded form the ingredients. Would not buy something when the description is vague.

    Solid calming effect

    This tea is really calming and helps me settle down before bed. The flavor is nice and herbal, and the valerian root definitely adds an extra relaxation boost. didn't fall asleep instantly, but it did help me feel more mellow and ready for rest. Overall a solid bedtime tea!

    Better than melatonin. Love.

    At 44, perimenopause has been kicking my butt for the last couple years. I don't typically have issues falling asleep, but the 12:30 or 3 a.m. wake up and taking 1-2.5 hours to fall back to sleep had been happening most nights and is exhausting. I then became super careful with sleep hygiene (No caffeine after 1pm; regular exercise with at least 7k to 10k steps a day; no alcohol; no screens 90 minutes before bed; stretching/yoga at bedtime) and it helped but the wake up was still happening at least once or twice a week. Melatonin helped knock me out but the 3:00 a.m. wake up would still happen (though not the 12:30). I got this tea on a whim since I usually drink the regular Sleepytime, and it has made a difference!!! In the last two weeks I've slept solidly through the night which hasn't happened in years!! (Ok, one night my kid woke me up for a half hour but I got back to sleep relatively quickly.) Love love love.

    Love celestial teas

    I love sleepytime tea. This one has the perfect chamomile flavor. Its smells like a mix between the chamomile and spearmint. Add a dash of honey and it's perfect. And it does help you go to sleep.

    Good tea

    To be so honest, I can’t say for sure if this stuff really makes me tired, because I’m so bad at remembering to drink it earlier in the night so it has time to kick in, but it tastes just like the normal sleepytime flavour, and it’s calming and soothing at night.

    Powerfully relaxing

    This tea is the perfect way to end the day and unwind. It has a strong spearmint and chamomile smell. About 30 minutes after drinking I feel relaxed and ready for a long night's sleep. I would like to see a loose leaf option offered to avoid the microplastics in the bags.

    Puts me right to sleep!

    I swear this tea knocks me out. It works best for me to drink it once all the lights are turned off and I’m sitting in bed. Once I finish my cup, I close my eyes and always immediately fall asleep

    Good product

    This extra sleepy time blend helps calm and relax me before bed. I do feel like it helps with sleep, but every other night it feels stronger some nights it helps my body a little bit faster to fall asleep other nights it just helps me feel very relaxed before bed. A great price for what you get.

    This was my was one of my favorite teas when I wasn’t feeling my best and really needed some rest. I had trouble sleeping, but my body was so sleep deprived and this tea really helped me out. I would get this one again!
