  • A: This iron was good at first but now it leaks and it also has a short where the ball of the cord swivels. I hope you brought the 2 year warranty and hope this doesn’t happen to you like it did to me.

The ceramic came off and made stains and even burned my clothes because of its stickiness. I bought a second one and the same thing happened within a week.

I am on my second version of this iron. The first I used almost daily for six years before it gave up the ghost. I am a professional tailor and really put that thing to task. I would choose a Chi over other higher end irons any day. I've had three Rowentas and not a single one lasted over 2 years. It heats up fast, has fantastic steam quality, is durable, and has a good weight to it. If you want a good quality iron that is going to last this is it.

I’ve bought two of these irons, the temperature gage on both irons are faulty. After using the iron a few times on the same settings, it started to burn my clothes. Do NOT spend money on this iron.

An effective iron

I’ve had a lot of irons and use them a ton! Pros: uses tap water, lightweight, steaming is consistent, cord ok length, adjustable steam settings, auto shut off Cons: no retractable cord, a bit pricy I think others who cannot get steam don’t notice adjustable dial under handle, and close to top. It does not stain, leak or drip. It is very easy to use.

Does not press very well, bottom stains easily and hard to clean.

Not very good - 5 months ago, Verified purchaser
After pressing, the fabric bounces back up and does not lay flat. My other irons do not do that. I have tried many heat and steam settings. It requires starch to lay flat. The bottom is easily stained by the starch and does not clean off very well. I wish I would have kept the box so I can return.

Don’t assume that the more expensive is better. Cord doesn’t retract. Instructions say to use tap water, not distilled (or mix half and half.) Why would that be?

I’m so glad that I didn’t get “Black & Decker” and instead I got this one. The quality of this iron is surprisingly way higher than the “Black & Decker”. Highly recommended.

I purchased this iron 2 years ago. I use it every week (if not more) and iron most everything in my closet. I’ve tried steamers for getting wrinkles out but always revert back to old school ironing! This is the best iron I’ve ever owned in that it heats quickly and the steam feature works great! My recommendation would be to only use distilled water in the unit. I’ve had no problems with clogging of the steam ports or discharge of “dirty” water when using the steaming function.

I like this iron. I works well and heats fast. The process to clean it after use is cumbersome but if it keeps the iron going I can live with it.

I needed an iron that would provide plenty of steam. This Chi iron is the best iron I've had as far as the quickness of heat up and amount of steam given. This iron heats up in seconds and is ready with a ton of steam. It has a large water capicity and is easy to fill. The dial lets you hone in on exactly the temp you need and the amount of steam needed. I will tell you to be careful of having your fingers near the tip of the iron as you will get a steam burn if not careful. The handle is comfortable, the weight is avg to a bit heavy when loaded with water. I haven't found anything special about the titanium/ceramic soleplate. It just seems like any other iron soleplate as far as sliding across clothes. If you want lots of steam don't hesitate to try this Chi iron. Hope it lasts a long time.
