A: A convertible seat, like the NextFit Max ClearTex, which is bigger and heavier, is designed to face rearward for young children and then forward for older children. The Convertible car seats do not have a detachable base and, like other convertible seats, are designed to stay in the car. The Nextfit Max ClearTex car seat can be used with a child from 4-65 lbs, or a maximum height of 49 inches (whichever the child reaches first.)

I bought this for my 3rd child and had used other brands for my older kids when they were toddlers. I thought getting a Chicco branded car seat would be nice and last long but I have not been happy with this car seat. First, it is very heavy and bulky. All straps are overly difficult to adjust at times, it can get frustrating. This includes the straps that clip on to the seat hooks. The clips on the straps wont even reach the hooks in my parent’s car at the longest setting. They should have made the straps longer/more adjustable. The way the bottom strap is shaped, it digs into my daughters thighs. She sometimes whines about it hurting. The cup holder is not built in, it just lightly clips on to the side so it’s always falling off and I keep losing it. It’s practically useless. A positive would be how easy it is to adjust the recline and height. Overall, the negatives outweigh the positives for me and I’m already wanting to replace it, even though my daughter is only 2. I just wish I bought a different one to begin with.

It's a good seat. Main complaints are that the straps don't have anything to hook to hold them off to the side when you're putting child in, so you have to dig underneath them after they are seated to get straps out. The fabric is already showing signs of wear after only one month of light use - pilling, snagging, etc. That's disappointing and can only imagine how its going to look after a few years of use.

I purchased these as second seats for my two children, both under 3. We have Nuna Ravas that my husband and I love, but we got two of these seats during a sale and the trade-in event for less than one Rava. We were traveling, so we wanted to take one on the plane for the toddler and check one still in the box for our infant. Flame-retardant-free is a big deal to us, so we decided to try these. It was between these and the Maxi-Cosi Pria and I’m glad we chose these as the fabrics just seem nicer and I’ve seen a lot of complaints on comfort with the Maxi-Cosi seats. So far the seats perform well. The install isn’t quite as easy as the Nuna Ravas, but it rivals or betters other convertible seats we have tried. They seem comfortable for my kiddos. They are a bit bulky and much larger front-to-back than our Ravas, so even though I bought these for my husband’s car, we are going to use them in mine as I’m 5’9” and he’s 6’3”, so it’s better for legroom to have the Ravas in his car. Another reviewer said the sides are tall. They are a bit, but we’ve been able to get our kids in them without too much trouble. I agree with another reviewer about the tightening strap. The button to release the strap is sort of hard to get to, but once you get the hang of it, it isn’t terrible! Overall I’m happy with the purchase and would definitely get them again. I like the extended rear-facing limits on them as well!

I did a TON of research and found this carseat to be one of the highest rated for safety AND it is also low toxin, which is really important in Florida because with the heat comes a hot car, and with a hot car comes fumes and toxic emissions from car seats.... which is why I chose this one. Low toxins is really important to me, especially for me child, and I feel better knowing this car seat isn't going to have endocrine disrupters in the fabric, exposing my child to toxins.

My girls and I were in a head on collision. My car is totaled. There is a single bruise on my baby’s leg and nothing else. This car seat helped save my baby and keep her safe. It’s easy to install and solid. We replaced the one from the accident with the exact same seat.

We had the graco extend for fit for my first child, and it was so hard to install and to tighten the straps everyday. I had to find something else for my second when he outgrew his carrier. This seat was so easy to install, I didn’t have to have my husband go behind me to tighten in. It’s also so much easier to tighten the straps. The only thing I don’t love is the fact that the button to loosen the straps is under the fabric so it’s a little tricky. Still a million times easier then the graco.

We bought this car seat for my toddler when he turned a year, I was hesitant moving him from his UppaBaby Mesa to this car seat. We first measured him inside home. Two minutes of measurements he fell sleep. Yes! it’s bulky and heavy. But I rather have a safe, comfy, happy baby. His 2 1/2 now and every time we go on a drive he falls asleep. It’s worth every penny.

I’m obsessed with this car seat! It’s deep which lets my son sit down into the seat allowing for it to surround him and protect him from all around. This is so nice because he gets full protection without all the bulky extra padding that others use, which to me looks annoying and restricting. Plus, this thing is a BRUTE and weighs a ton so I feel confident that it can stand up to a lot should we ever be in an accident. Also, the harness slides super nice while both tightening and loosening which is absolutely not the case for our other car seats. Buy it!

I love this car seat. I love that you can have this rear facing for a higher weight capacity than most other car seats. I really like how soft and cushiony it is. My daughter seems to enjoy her car seat more than before. Super easy to install and super easy to adjust as baby gets bigger.
