Q: why does the label information for this item not list the added sugar as an ingredient?

submitted by Redwoody - 2 years ago
  • A: The added sugar found in our Chobani® Oatmilk products are produced through the natural process with enzymes used to break down the oats. This produces a mildly sweet taste that perfectly complements your coffee, cereal, or smoothie. According to the FDA, sugars produced by this process are considered added sugar and must be declared on the label, but not as an ingredient. In our Plain and Plain Extra Creamy drinks, there are no other sources of added sugar. In Vanilla, we do add just the right amount of cane sugar to complement this classic flavor.

Q: Is this no longer made with Organic oats? For the last year it said "Made with Organic Oats" right along the top, but it no longer shows that.

submitted by addabrada - 3 years ago
  • A: At Chobani, we’re committed to delivering our delicious, natural, nutritious and accessible options to people wherever they live, work, or play. We’ve found that making a high-quality product didn’t mean that we had to be organic and had access to a more plentiful supply of quality oats to make our oatmilk. Because we’re committed to making sure we deliver on quality, nutrition, and affordability, we’ve switched to conventional oats. Rest assured we will always hold our suppliers to the highest standards you expect from Chobani.

Surprisingly bad oat milk

1 out of 5 stars
Thumbs down graphic, would not recommend

I typically get Planet Oat Barista Lover’s Oat Milk to use with my espresso machine, however I bought this one during my last trip to Target since I don’t believe they sell the brand I usually buy at my local store. This oat milk is surprisingly bad. It did not froth at all when I attempted to steam it, and the taste is very strange and almost artificially nutty. I found that it also almost tasted burnt somehow. Having read other reviews, I guess they have changed their recipe recently and it’s much worse than the original. I enjoy other Chobani non-dairy products but I definitely would not get this oat milk again.

I used to get almond milk because it’s cheaper than oatmilk but oatmilk is creamier and it makes my at home lattes feel way more enjoyable, so it’s worth the little extra for me. This has good flavor, not too sweet, and I really like the creaminess of it compared to other oatmilks like generic brands, even though I’m normally a generic brand gal. It’s also not overwhelmingly oat-ey tasting to me like some nut milks are.

R.I.P my favorite oatmilk!

I just recently tried oatmilk for the first time, and fell in love with this one specifically! Untill the last two jugs... it does not taste the same. I thought it was my allergies or the cold ive been fighting off. So I bought another jug today and its still off! Its more watery and way less flavorful than it used to be. With some googling I found out the was a change in the formula. I'm so sad, the other oatmilks ive tried weren't nearly as good as I remember this one tasting. I will be looking for an alternative unless the old formula is brought back!

This used to be one of our favorite oat milks out there. But over time, the carton has changed, formula has been altered. And now it’s way more expensive. $4.40 for a 52 oz carton is insane. It used to be $3.50. Don’t tell me because of inflation. Other vendors managed to keep the prices lower.

I enjoy this oat milk as the base for my smoothies. It provides the natural goodness of oats with a creamy texture. Includes the same nutritional value as regular milk, with a slightly higher sugar content.

Seeing so many reviews wanting the chemicals put back into the milk...which is crazy. They are trying to make us healthier, why complain about that? I urge everyone to go try the original oat milk with only 3 ingredients. Oats, Water and salt and then you will realize how creamy this one actually still is.

Formula change spring 2025

3 out of 5 stars
KAT - 17 days ago, Verified purchaser
This has been my go to for years. They changed the formula around spring 2025. Despite only a minor change to the taste/ texture…. There are now less ingredients but that managed to make it more calories, fat, sugar, carbs, sodium etc per serving. Why was this change made and what did they put in it. WHY??

This was the best oatmilk on the current market. But you did it, the white creamy look and tast changed. If it's not broken leave it alone. My regret told my family and friends to buy, my grandkids loved it and so did I.

Doesn't Froth Anymore

Deanna - 21 days ago, Verified purchaser
This has historically been my favorite oat milk because it’s creamy and it froths so well in my nespresso frother. Recently, however, it seems like the recipe has changed because it doesn’t froth anymore. I thought it was a bad batch but three purchases later over the course of three months and I think this is just the new norm and it makes me sad.

This oat milk is great for coffee! It’s thick and creamy. I mainly use oat milk only for my morning coffee and this gets the job done. Some of the other brands can be pretty watery. It also works well with a frother for espresso based drinks. Try it out!

This used to be my absolute favorite for my morning macchiato. Last time I went to the store I bought two because they were on sale and I regret doing that. What used to be my favorite go to oat milk tastes so funky and gets clumpy in my iced coffee, which is very offsetting. At first I wasn’t sure if it was just me or the batch I recieved but after doing some research I see the recipe has changed.

Wow, the new recipe is horrible. I thought it was just a bad carton but I guess not. I’ve been drinking this for years and buy 3-4 containers a week but couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t foaming and tastes bad. It’s now watery and has a weird flavor and is now exactly like the other brands I don’t like. Please bring back the original version.

I understand that it’s not as frothy as before, but the company made a change from using a non healthy chemical in order to produce a healthier product. How can people complain about that?? I support the change 100%

I used to purchase this product a couple months ago and loved it. I had to stop buying it once I realized it had an ingredient called dipotassium phosphate which can be linked to cardiovascular diseases, increased risk of type 2 diabetes and breast cancer! But now that they have changed the recipe I will be purchasing again. I'm all for making America healthy again!

Formula change BAD

Amanda - 28 days ago
How chobani thought they could quietly change the formula without anyone noticing. It's actual crap now. It went from the best oat milk on the market to being undrinkable. Tragic. I was a loyal chobani customer for 2 years, buying 2-3 cartons a week for lattes and protein shakes. Not any longer.
