Guests are saying
This coconut milk has received mixed feedback from guests, with many expressing disappointment in its flavor and texture. While some appreciate its creaminess and versatility in recipes, others find it overly thick and artificial tasting, making it unsuitable for savory dishes. Guests have noted that it works well in desserts and smoothies, but caution is advised for those seeking authentic coconut flavor. Overall, it may be a good option for specific uses but not for traditional coconut milk applications.

I’m not sure what is going on with all these reviews, but I just made some delicious tapioca pudding with a can of this. I use coconut milk and cream a lot, being allergic to milk, and the flavor and consistency were as expected: mild coconut flavor and rich and creamy.
Ruined our curry, avoid like the plague

I was cooking curry and make the mistake of adding a can of this stuff. It instantly skunked the flavor. This stuff is thicker than actual coconut milk, and tastes like heavy cream with flour and sawdust added. Zero cocunut flavor.

Like other reviewers have reported this is bad. If you have some recipe where you can drown out the playdoh flavor then go for it. I can’t stand it. I thought it would be ok because the ingredient list looked the same as name brands. I don’t know what goes wrong, but it goes very wrong. I do not recommend.

This stuff ruined my recipe! It takes like a rotted tin can with a strange yucky aftertaste and nothing is similar to an actual coconut flavor. What even is THIS????

Strangest tasting coconut milk I've encountered. I made a coconut mousse cake with it against my better judgement (didn't have another brand) and all you could taste was this weird artificial plasticky kind of flavor. Don't bother with it unless you're making something like a curry where the other flavours might overpower it. But even then you probably shouldn't.

This has got to be the most nastiest and off-taste coconut milk I've had. It has a taste that I can't define. Tastes nothing like it should.
How do you ruin coconut milk?

I usually buy the "Thai" brand in the red can and occasionally the brand with the yellow can - both unsweetened - to make sticky coconut jasmine rice in the instant pot. One thing that the other brands have in common is you have to shake the cans and scrape the cream off the top and really mix it will, and even then when the rice is finished it looks a bit foamy on top due to the coconut. This stuff? Not at all and I knew right away it was 'wrong' as it was the consistency and color of plain milk without the strong coconut scent you get from the other brands when you first open the can. Not only that, but sometimes you can burn the bottom of coconut rice due to the natural sugars of the coconut, but this stuff didn't even fully absorb so some grains were undercooked beyond the point of al-dente; it didn't want to absorb and instead of the scummy natural coconut you have to blend in after the rice is finished and mixed, it was all just this weird white coating with extra liquid. It was fine date-wise and there were no dents in the can - it is the brand and whatever they do to process it. I don't typically buy organic either, but the other brands when I've had to spend more to buy the organic ones they were still traditional consistency whereas this was like skim milk. AVOID!!!
This is absolutely disgusting

I thought I was crazy until I saw these reviews! I just ruined a pretty expensive meal. I even had two cans and smelled the other because I was certain that there was something wrong. It really smells and tastes like Play-Doh. I wish I had even smelled the can before I put it in there.

Came to the comments and confirmed my suspicions… this stuff is so strange. Has and overly sweet and almost oat/cashew milk smell to it. Oddly thick as well. I half wonder if it’s something else entirely. I ruined two staple recipes with it. Only bought it bc my grocery is out. Won’t buy it again.

I mix this with a few tbsp of pure maple syrup and chia seeds to make a coconut chia seed pudding to add on top of my yogurt bowls. Very rich and creamy with clean ingredients. Based off the negative reviews it doesn’t seem to taste good when used for cooking. Definitely my go to coconut milk.

This canned coconut milk is one of the best I’ve found and surely the best value. Goya and other brands have such chalky and lumpy canned coconut milk—this one is nice and smooth and thick. My go to for baking and cooking these days.

Easily the worst coconut milk I’ve ever tasted. What even is this stuff?! No coconut flavor, and it just tastes… odd. And wrong. And awful. So awful that after opening a second can just to see if the first was an anomaly, I ended up pouring both cans down the drain. It’s really disappointing because most G&G products I’ve tried have been great. Don’t waste your money.
