Q: so this does not require the oven??
A: Can this be used on a pottery wheel?
submitted byJen - 10 months agoA: No, no it does not require and oven.
submitted byrrkolb13 - 8 years agoA: Nope! You just leave it out to dry over night and you’re good to go!
submitted byNik - 8 years agoA: That is correct! Air Dry Clay should never be placed in an oven or kiln. Most pieces will be safe to handle carefully within a day, but should be allowed to dry at least 24-48 hours before painting or sealing. Actual time to completely dry may take several weeks, and the clay becomes stronger with time. Hope this helps!

Q: Does the clay crack over time? Looking for something long-lasting to capture my dogs paw print.
A: I actually just looked at a paw print I made about 6 years ago. It is still an entire piece, but there are cracks all over the top. I'm currently looking into a sealant I can use to keep it from getting any worse.
submitted byLarissa - 7 years agoA: Thanks for your question! Crayola Air-Dry Clay is a natural earth clay which air-dries to a hard solid. Shrinkage should be minimal during the drying process, so using this clay for a paw-print project should work out great. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-Crayola. Best wishes for a colorful future!

Q: Is this a similar texture to playdough?
A: Great question! Crayola Air Dry Clay and dough modeling compounds do share some similarities, but they have distinct textures and purposes. Dough products are typically soft, squishy, and very pliable—staying moist and designed for repeated play, making it easy for small hands to mold and reshape. Crayola Air Dry Clay, is slightly firmer and denser than dough modeling materials. While it’s still soft and easy to mold, it’s intended for sculpting and dries into a hardened form once exposed to air, unlike dough products, which remains soft if stored properly. If you have any further questions regarding Crayola Air-Dry Clay, please contact us at 1-800-CRAYOLA. Hope this makes your decision as to which product will be the best fit for your sculpting easier.

Q: Is this product food safe?
A: Thanks for asking this colorful question! It's best to use art supplies labeled as "food grade" for anything that will touch food. Since Crayola products aren't food grade, we recommend not using them to hold unpackaged food. However, feel free to sculpt food for an awesome display!
