Q: What size vinyl can I use? It doesn’t specify if this fits 12x12 vinyl.

A: A 12x12 vinyl is not compatible with the Cricut Joy Xtra. The Max cut size using a Joy Xtra mat is 8.2 in x 11.7 in (20.8 cm x 29.7 cm). The max cut size using Smart Materials is 8.5 in x 4 ft (21.6 cm x 1.2 m).

Q: Does this machine print our own design and later we can cut ?

A: Hi Hanu. Thanks for your questions. This machine actually does not print. However, you can use our software(which is free) to send a print to your regular home printer, and then take that print and cut it in the Joy Xtra. We call this process Print Then Cut.

A: This is not a material that has been tested for the Joy Xtra. Our Joy Xtra can cut up to 2 mm thick materials.

A: Going as small as 1/8 of an inch, results may vary depending on the intricacy of the font. We recommend testing on copy paper before committing to the project material. The biggest difference is that the Joy Xtra has the ability to do Print then Cut projects, whereas the Joy does not.

Stickers!!!
I bought it to make print then cut stickers and it is great for that. I haven’t tried anything else, but that’s what I bought it for. I am excited to create other things with it though.

Guides lack troubleshooting ideas
I am finding it difficult to print and then cut my own art designs. Not very happy right now but will continue working on it and hoping to find a breakthrough. Also, I do not have all the features described in the instructional videos even though I have updated several times, signed out and back in and followed all the other advice. Since key features are missing, I am guessing my product may not work as advertised or correctly.

I love the machine but am having an incredibly difficult time using the App on my iPhone 16. I’ve spent hours on your Chat trying to get everything to sync properly and I’m hoping that today I will be able to make the 27 gifts I’d really love to get created for Christmas!! Fingers crossed. The machine is great for doing so many different projects!

Bang for your buck
I broke down and bought myself the cricut joy extra and an so very glad I did! Its not an explore or maker, thats for sure but it does almost as much as one does. My income, ir lack thereof, didnt allow me too big of a splurge but you get a lot of bang for your buck with the joy extra!

Great in theory
I did a lot of research to find the right Cricut machine in my budget, but in the end, it just didn’t cut it (no pun intended). My goal was simply to make waterproof stickers for personal use, but it can’t cut through thermal laminate. Since I have shaky hands, self-adhesive laminate isn’t workable for me. Really disappointing.

I just received my Cricut Joy xtra, and I'm really liking the size. I've cut out Iron-on vinyl for 4 t-shirts and it cut beautifully. The only complaint I have is it bent the corner of my cutting mat while feeding into the machine, which made it unusable.

I really wish there were options to recut the same image as with the maker 4. I also wish there were better guide rails to loading the mats. The precision cut is not really there. I like the compactness of the extra joy, I like the concept of the machine just need some adjusting to make it friendly with cutting, loading.

Great features but limited functionality.
I was very excited to try some Christmas projects using already owned supplies like glitted foam sheets and patterned paper in order to make gingerbread men ornaments. This machine only cuts cardstock and vinyl. Vinyl is expensive. So it'll just sit there for now.

My new Companion, Cricut Joy Extra machine
I love my Cricut Joy Extra, I do so many different things with my Joy. I have made cards, cut vinyl, made iron on tee shirts, made a ton of stickers, the list is still growing. I live in a small Apt., so I don't have room for one of the larger size Cricuts unfortunately, but my Joy Extra is doing a ton of creative things with me. I also have the Joy machine and once I figured out what to do, I knew I wanted the Joy Extra also. Each project has cut so well, with all the different mediums I have used, it just makes me want to create even more.

Joy Extra
I like the size of the joy extra. It is small enough to be portable but big enough to made a nice size project. I have not used the print then cut feature of the machine yet. Over all, I like this machine better than the original joy due to the bigger size of the joy extra and the print then cut feature.
