Q: Does it come with the cricut software

  • A: Hi Traci, and thank you for your question. The Joy Xtra doesn't come with the software. The app is separate from the machine, but will require you to register the machine before it will work. Its available for iOS and android devices, Windows, and Mac. It will NOT work on a Chromebook, however.

    Love the portability.

    I bought this machine to enable my Mom, who is 94, to make some simple projects for the bulletin board in her nursing home. It’s easy to take to her as it is more difficult for her to come to my house and use the Maker 3. I can use my current account to save projects that I know she can make. The machine is smaller than the maker, but will suit for the projects she can do. My daughter also wants to learn to use the cricut, and this allows me to take the machine to her place as well.

    Tiny but Mighty

    I love the Cricut JoyXtra mainly because of its size. If I want to craft anywhere other that my craft zone it is easy to carry along. Also, to be compact it cuts at a decent speed & I haven’t had any issues with the print them cut feature. Wish I had it it in lavender.

    Cricut Joy Extra

    Can’t use it because it is not compatible with my Apple computer. Apple operating system is silcon and cricut is Rosetta. I am waiting until cricut does a system change.

    Advantages of Joy Xtra

    I bought this machine because it was smaller than the larger models so more portable and fits on my desk easier. I love that it cuts on letter size paper as it reduces lots of waste

    Portability and bigger project sizes combined in 1

    I love the joy xtra. It's a little bit bigger than the joy and could do just a little bit more than the joy. Before they made the joy 2 the joy xtra was nice for the size to transport it between my friends house and my own. It is nice to have the option to make a project in a bigger size compared to the joy but no have to bring my maker 3 which is heavier to carry to my friends house.

    Machine sucks

    The machine gets stuck when making designs. I see why someone retuned It because It does not function properly. I’ve tried multiple times and still doesn’t work the way it’s supposed to. I will be returning It.

    Wonderful Smaller Machine!

    I don’t remember exactly why I bought the Xtra, but I absolutely love it. I can take it with when I go places because of the smaller size. It does almost everything my Maker does.

    Just the right size!

    I bought the Cricut Joy Xtra shortly after it came out. I have the Joy, but wanted the print then cut functionality. It's perfect for making sheets of stickers and very easy to travel with. I've been using Cricut printably vinyl and have had no issues.

    Decent when it works.

    It was a learning curve for me. I bought it to only cut out paper ephemera. It's supposed to accept jpegs but it won't accept all of them. Some jpegs have to be resized tp pngs to work. That is frustrating. But I'm adapting. So all i all i like it.

    Small size, large potential

    Entry level cricut....fell in love with cricut....so many different crafts one can make. Great for gifts...personalizing special gifts. There IS a learning curve on Design Space if one is not used to working with computer. Much fun once one starts on projects....water bottle good thing to start with. Many uses for cricut to personalize and label items. Many materials available for purchase...Easy to find materials ( called BLANKS)
