A: This shelf does not have to be hung. It is made of Iron and is 7.6 lbs and would be sturdy enough to sit on a mantle.

Lightweight and sturdy, these were a perfect solution for an empty wall over my coffee/bar in my kitchen! Had been looking for months for something to fit the space that want going break the bank. Initially found these on a different site and fell in love. I was astounded to find them at 1/3 the price at Target!!
