A: For best accuracy, calibrate scale. Place your scale on a hard, flat surface, do not use on uneven tile, flooring or carpeting. Try to keep your scale in the same location or position as much as possible. Step on the scale with one foot applying enough pressure to turn the scale on - then remove your foot. The digital readout should show dashes or zeros. The scale will automatically turn off. Now your scale is ready for you to take a weight reading. Please reach back out with any additional questions. A: The Taylor stainless steel scale has a thinner profile than other stainless steel scales that utilize a piece of glass under the stainless. Our stainless is supported by an internal structure within the base itself, eliminating the need for the thicker, heavier glass piece. The overall scale dimensions are 12.2" x 12.2" W x 0.93" H. Dont buy taylor scales
Garbage - the background light stopped working within a year. This was my second Taylor scale that broke shortly after buying it. Customer service is very indifferent toward issues outside the warranty. Buy another brand - a scale company that makes cheap scales isn’t deserving of your money.

Does not work - at all
Recently purchased this scale in-store 3 hours from our hometown, only to unpackage it and find out it does not work at all. Even changed to new (quality) batteries, the unit flashed once, but will not turn on or provide any output (after trying multiple times and following the directions). Upon inspecting the packaging it came in -the plastic bag surrounding the scale was taped up over a rip, it's obvious that it was a previously returned item! Please - at least check to make sure items are actually working before putting a returned item back on the shelf! We will be returning as soon as we visit another Target store.

It seems relatively accurate when I go to weigh myself as long as it is perfectly level (even the slightest slant and it is way off). When my husband goes to weigh my dog (together they weigh a little over 400 lbs) it fluctuates a lot and has been off by as much as 35 lbs. Since we were trying to track the growth of my giant breed dog this was completely useless. I don’t recommend this at all.
