Q: can these be use for adults ?

submitted by Helen - 7 years ago
  • A: Yes! It’s a great alternative if you want to use something more natural and free of unnecessary chemicals, fragrances, etc. I also use this to wash my cat when we wash her cat box(about once a month) since it’s more natural and fragrant free :)

submitted byHeather - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi Helen, yes this all-in-one soap can be used on children, adults, even pets!

submitted byTarget Beauty Consulting - 7 years ago

  • A: Yes, absolutely. This baby version is actually also used by hikers and campers when camping close to bear country (since it's non-toxic and biodegradable and is a lot less naturally scented compared to the other Dr. Bronne'rs soaps like the Tea Tree, Lavender, Almond, etc) - it's actually how we started using it when we bought it at REI. It's also can be used to wash dishes but I prefer the soapy suds version from Dr. Bronner's (however Target doesn't carry that one). I have sensitive skin and seems to do well with all Dr. Bronner's soaps.

submitted bySweet Tooth - 4 years ago
  • A: Yes. This just doesn't have any fragrance which could be irritating to sensitive skin.

Q: can this be used as shampoo as well?

submitted by newmom - 6 years ago
  • A: I do use this as my primary shampoo as it's as close to pure as any product can be. Very mild, my hair feels clean without the added perfumes (which I'm allergic to). I use this as my one stop product in the bath. Every other hair wash I do use conditioner.

submitted byTP - 6 years ago
  • A: You can use it as a shampoo, but if you're not used to soap as shampoo I recommend following with a citric acid rinse (diluted apple cider vinegar is a good option) to smooth your hair follicle back down or your hair might feel a bit more tangled.

submitted bySarah - 5 years ago
  • A: This is a very mild soap, but I would not use as shampoo because on the bottle it says to keep out of your eyes

submitted byLAR - 6 years ago

Q: How long does a bottle of this size typically last? Does a little go a long way?

submitted by mma - 7 years ago
  • A: I highly recommend getting a foam pump dispenser bottle. It will go a very long way, 2 showers a day, it lasted me 5 months.

submitted byTargetlover - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi Mma, we've found that this castile soap will last several months, especially when you dilute the soap, or combine it with water.

submitted byTarget Beauty Consulting - 7 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: As far as how much to use, I'd say it's about the same as any other liquid soap. So if you how long your old soap lasts, compare the size of containers to see how long this one will last. If cost is an issue, I suspect there are other brands of liquid castile soap, probably just as good, and Dr Bronner isn't a bargain brand. I know there are inexpensive castile bar soaps commonly available.

Q: Can I use this as liquid hand soap replacement? And what is the best way to bottle it, diluted in water with a foaming dispenser or straight from the Dr. Bronners bottle to a smaller dispenser?

submitted by MJ - 3 years ago
  • A: Hi MJ! The Dr. Bronner's 18-In-1 Hemp Baby Pure Castile Soap when diluted can be used for body, face, mopping-laundry-pets, and clean make-up brushes! Directions will be in bottle, hope this helps :)

submitted byTarget Beauty Consulting - 3 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: Hi MJ! We do not recommend using a standard pump dispenser, sensor dispenser, or wall dispenser with our Pure-Castile Liquid Soaps as they can easily clog. Instead, we recommend keeping the soap in its original bottle and using just a drop or two for each handwashing. However, our Pure-Castile Liquid Soaps do work well in foaming dispensers! Foaming dispensers “thicken” the soap with water and air. If you decide to use a foaming dispenser, make sure to dilute the soap at a ratio of 1 part soap to 3 parts water. This dilution doesn’t create the issues with clogging that undiluted soap would. Ratio example: 8 oz. bottle = 2 oz. soap (¼ c.) soap and 6 oz. (¾ c.) water; 12 oz. bottle = 3 oz. soap and 9 oz. water. When using a foaming dispenser, we recommend diluting a portion that will be used up within 2 weeks to a month, since we do not add any harsh preservatives in our products that will allow them to last longer than 1 month after being diluted. Using distilled water will be more helpful since hard water can cause natural soap separation.

Q: Is this product tear free?

submitted by Rae - 7 years ago
  • A: No, it's soap. Although it is mild, it is not tear free.

submitted byNatalie - 7 years ago
  • A: No. Its not tear free.

submitted bysandy - 7 years ago

Q: So what exactly are the 18 things in this one soap?

submitted by Sawyer - 10 months ago
  • A: Our Pure-Castile Liquid Soaps are castile soaps made from pure organic plant oils without synthetic detergents. This means that they are extremely versatile! Our Pure-Castile Soap is gentle enough to wash your face and body but also effective enough to clean your laundry, dishes, floors, pets, countertops, etc. Dr. Bronner coined the phrase "18-in-1" to express that our one soap can be used in 18 different ways, however, there are actually many more than 18 uses for our Pure-Castile Soaps. Q: can i use this soap to clean my 4 month olds baby bottles

submitted by abbie - 1 year ago
  • A: Hey Abbie, Great question! The Dr. Bronner's 18- in 1 Pure Castile Liquid Soap is a multi-purpose castile soap that can be used to wash baby bottles, dishes, hands, hair, as well as floors too, which means it is very versatile! Q: Can you use this on dogs? My dog has super sensitive skin. Baby Johnson Johnson is the only product that doesn't effect my dog's skin. I would like a better soap. Does anyone have any experience using this on dogs?

submitted by Tim - 3 years ago
  • A: Great Question Tim! Dr. Bronner's is safe for dogs, however, you should use only a little bit of the soap at first to ensure your dog is not sensitive to it

Q: Is the palm oil in your products sustainably sourced, rainforest alliance approved?

submitted by Jojorodo - 3 years ago
  • A: We have gone to great lengths to ensure that our fair trade & organic palm oil is sustainably harvested in a way that does not damage the environment. All of our palm oil comes from small-holder farms in Ghana, where oil palms have been grown for centuries, and where no new deforestation is occurring. We are constantly striving to improve sustainability and we support growers with organic methods for improving palm fruit yields – thus getting more oil out of the same amount of land. In short, we believe that it is not simply what you grow, but how you grow it. You can read more about our palm oil project in Ghana on our All-One blog.

Q: What is the recommended dilution ratio of soap-to-water for this product in order to use it in my 8.5 ounce automatic foaming dispenser which would provide rich foam yet not stress the dispenser motor?

submitted by John - 4 years ago
  • A: Whatever your volume is, fill it with one part soap and three of those parts of water. You could use 1 cup soap to 3 cups water (makes 1 qt.), or 1/4 cup soap to 3/4 cup water (makes 1 cup). At this ratio, the soap is thin enough that it will not strain the motor.

Soap seems more diluted

This time the color of the soap is lighter yellow and pouring it out of the bottle went much faster. So it seems the soap is more diluted. Hopefully, it does not get worse, otherwise we will have to look for alternatives

My favorite soap! Would you like to use less chemicals and still feel clean? This product should be yours. I’ve been using this soap for the last 4 years. I feel very safe using this product on my sensitive skin. Note: You should dilute this with water. I’ve always used purified water instead of tap. This soap does leave soap scum but I think its value as a leading healthy soap choice exceeds the mess.

Positive review for Castile Soap

First time user. Very pleased with the Castile Soap. I am learning yet all it can be used on. I have tried this for general cleaning around the house. Next will be on tougher projects. My reason in giving 4 stars is that I am searching for an easy way to measure the soap, for example a pump.

This is my go-to. I’ll try different soaps/body washes, but they never seem to clean as well as this one. So I always come back. I use it as a body wash for myself & as a shampoo for my dogs. I’ve tried it as a shampoo for myself, but didn’t like it for that use, but it has tons of uses and a little goes a long way.
