A: Yet one of the pictures provided in the description shows it sitting on carpet. I've had a Duraflame on carpet for 7 years. You just need to clean the intake area when you dust the whole unit as part of normal cleaning for the room it is in.

A: Since I’m thinking about purchasing this product, I looked through the Q&A section, found the link to the owners manual and have been reviewing this document. The link I found the owners manual was https://media.twinstarhome.com/manuals/download_manual.aspx?model_number=DFI-5010-01&d=1 On page 17 of 28 with a troubleshooting chart, the problem noise with flame on and heater off describe the problem as being a defective flame generator drive motor.  a few pages down, I saw that the part number for the flame generator Drive motor is listed as Y16 – S174 – P10.  I don’t know if you’ve registered the product but it looks like there is a one year warranty that covers the product. The service number is 1-800-318-9373 and states that before contacting customer service please have the serial number the model number and a sales receipt or proof of purchase available.  It looks like the service number is for a company called twin star international Inc., 750 Park of commerce Boulevard Suite 400 Boca Raton, FL 33487. I hope this information helps you.

A: While the body is metal, the legs are a really tough durable plastic. You click them on. They are very durable, I've had this unit almost 3 years now still works perfectly
