So I’ve had this for a few years now. I got it to help with hot flashes (not related to menopause) and poor body temperature control. I did look into the research prior to purchasing and I was aware that there is basically no independent science that shows this is anything more than the placebo effect. It does not actually change your body temperature. It creates a dot of cold or hot on your wrist, not affecting anything beneath your skin. It tricks your mind into thinking about cooling, thus making you believe you are getting cooler and that makes you feel better. This does not actually change anything going on inside the body. I feel like this same thing could be done by putting an ice cube on the wrist and you’d save $300.

It didn’t work for me. Unfortunately I followed the directions and tried it out for a few weeks. Ultimately when I tried to return it target wouldn’t accept the return suggested I contact the manufacturer and they said target would need to handle it since they didn’t sell it directly. If you try it and it isn’t working initially take it back right away. $300 waisted and no one cares!

When it works, it really does work. When a hot flash (or cold wave) comes on, especially when used early, it shortens the duration and lowers the intensity. Sometimes the device gets really hot when in the cool mode…not sure what is going on. This especially happens if trying to use it in the night sleep mode. The metal band wants to pinch and tear off tiny hairs on the wrist. No matter how it is adjusted, the band settles to the smallest part of the wrist, which may not be the most comfortable or effective placement. I would give it fewer stars except that I appreciate the results when it works.

Four stars because of the design. A curved rectangle would cover more skin and maybe make it less bulky? Other than that, this thing does what it says and will either stop my hot flash completely or greatly lessen its severity. Overall, I’m happy I purchased it.

Finally took the plunge and purchased this and am so glad I did. The bracelet is cute and unobtrusive, charges easily and the app is super-simple to use. Most importantly, the Embr Wave 2 works (at least for me). I'm sure there is a psychological aspect to it's efficacy as well, but the cooling functionality is a GOD-SEND for soothing those annoying waves of hot flashes, especially during the night. Just press a button, and aaaaahhhh - sweet relief!

I received my EMBR Wave last night. Charged it and set it for cooling 8 hours. This was the first night that I slept 8 hours without getting up 3-4 times in the middle of the night. I would highly recommend purchasing one if you have hot flashes like nobody’s business.

This works so well for my hot flashes! I don’t want to take medication so I decided to try this out. I’m glad I did! The cooling it gives is so comforting I am so glad I decided to give this a try.
