We are not new epic bar customers and recently ordered the BBQ Chicken, Beef Apple Bacon, and Bison Bacon Cranberry bars. The latter two did not disappoint, but the BBQ Chicken were not at all tasty. 3 adults in our home tried them and came to the same conclusion: sour tasting and dry (pretty much inedible).

I'm a big fan of many of the Epic meat bars, but this one was a miss for me. Dry, tough, and too much garlic for my taste. I was expecting more of a barbeque sauce taste and more tender consistency.

The texture is pretty good, not too soft nor too hard. It’s definitely a different type of bar so it can take some getting used to at first. I like the simple ingredient list and healthier option as compared to other choices.

From the first smell it smelled like barbecue chicken so I took a big bite. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and how filling the bar was.

I tend to not eat enough protein, so having these is helpful. The flavor is exceptional- not weird and boring like traditionally jerky/ dried meat bars. I like that there is no junk in these bars. It’s rare to find a packaged snack with ingredients you can pronounce and recognize. I recommend these if you are concerned about what you put in your body and like a delicious, filling snack.

The Chicken BBQ tastes more like a sausage to me than jerky. The listed ingredients are : Natural* Chicken, Organic Golden Raisins, Sea Salt, Lactic Acid**, Hemp Seeds, Garlic, Onion, Sesame Seeds, Celery Powder, Sesame Oil, Ginger, Black Pepper, Red Pepper Flakes, Red Pepper, and I appreciate that they are all real ingredients. Even though raisins were the second ingredient, the bar tasted more savory than sweet. I prefer some of their other flavours (like the bison cranberry) a little more, but this is still really good for a clean protein snack.
