bra measuring guide

Use the tips & visuals in this guide to take body measurements accurately & easily.

Don't have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or a pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Find your band size

Wearing your best fitting bra, measure your underbust. Wrap tape measure around chest just under your bust (under bra band), make sure the tape is snug & level across your back.

    • If your underbust measurement is an odd number, add 5 to get your band size.

    • If your underbust measurement is an even number, add 4 to get your band size.

    • Example: Underbust of 29" (odd number)+5 = 34" Band Size

    • Example: Underbust of 30" (even number)+4 = 34" Band Size

  • Find your cup size

Measure your bust by wrapping tape measure around the fullest part of your bust.Be sure the tape is snug & level across your back.

(Bust measurement)-(Band size) = (Cup size)

    Example:(Bust of 35)-(Band of 32) = 3(C Cup)

Bra sizes (band size + cup size)

32A 34A 36A 38A 40A 42A 44A 46A 48A
30A 32B 34B 36B 38B 40B 42B 44B 46B
  30C 32C 34C 36C 38C 40C 42C 44C
      32D 34D 36D 38D 40D 42D
        32DD 34DD 36DD 38DD 40DD
        30DDD 32DDD 34DDD 36DDD 38DDD

Fit issues

Fit tip: 90% of your support should come from your band, which should be snug & level across your back.

  • Straps slip

Tighten straps until they sit smoothly aganist the skin.

If you tighten the straps fully & don't feel supported, your band may be too loose.

  • Straps dig in

Loosen straps until they sit smoothly against the skin .

If you loosen the straps & don't feel supported, your band may be too loose.

  • Side overflow

If band fits comfortably, go up a cup size. or try a different bra style.

Example: If you usually wear a 32B, try a 32C.

  • Cup overflow

If band fits comfortably, go up a cup size,

Example: If you usually wear a 32B, try a 32C.

  • Wire sits on breasts

Band is too loose. Take your measurements following the directions in this guide. Or, if the cup size is accurate, try a sister size down from your current size.

See sister size chart for more info.

  • Cups Gape

If band fits comfortably, tighten straps. if that doesn't help, try going down a cup size.

Example: If you usually wear a 34B, try a 34A.

  • Band digs in

Your band size is too small. Try going up a band size, and down a cup size

Example: If you usually wear a 34C, try a 36B.

  • Band rides up

Your band size is too big. Go down a band size, and up a cup size

Example: If you usually wear a 34C, try a 32D.

Sister sizes

A "sister size" is an alternate size in which the cup size stays the same, even though the band size & cup letter change.

To find your sister size, locate your usual size on the chart below. To sister size down, select the size underneath. To sister size up, select the size above.

Example: if your size is 34C, the sister size down is 32D, & the sister size up is 36B.

Q: Has anyone washed them and they popped and was oily? I wear them a lot and washed them n then I Tried them on and it for on my brand new dress! I hope it comes out

submitted by Jennat130 - 7 years ago
  • A: I've been using these for years. Sewn (on edges) into my bras. Hand washing them I've never had a problem. (knock on wood)

submitted byapril - 5 years ago
  • A: I had one pop while on a ride at Disney. :( Totally wasn't something I ever considered as I wore them every day for a few years before that happened. Stained my bra and tshirt. Never came out.

submitted byAbust - 6 years ago
  • A: Hi Jennat130, Thanks for asking a question! It's really important that you HAND WASH this product. The Water Wear Push-Up Pads are filled with a water/oil mixture, incased in fabric that should be quite durable. For reference: Hand wash the pads with a mild soap and warm water. Allow the pads to air dry completely before wearing. Thanks, Lilly @FashionFormsOfficial

Great for lumpectomy issues with swimsuits!

After having a lumpectomy It became depressing buying swim suits. padding often held too much moisture and felt uncomfortable. I found these at target and was thrilled! Even more so, they come in different sizes! I bought them, added them to the swim suit tops and poof! I'm even again! In the pic you cant even tell which side I had a lumpectomy on. The cost is decent. I do hand wash them. Dont feel like they should go in the machine.

lasted me 4 years of almost constant use before the oil started seeping through. they do move around a bit if they’re not placed well, but aside from that these are my holy grail and i will be buying a replacement soon.

    Unfulfilled order

There was supposed to be two pads in the box and I only received one. The box was not sealed and apparently no one checked to make sure both were there. Very poor quality control. Poor service Target!!!

Great until it leaked greasy substance

I have a bra with a pocket. I have been wearing this insert for a couple of months. Yesterday when I took my bra off, the side holding the insert was discolored. I felt it and my hands were glistening-- it was an oily substance. So beware. I haven't tried to wash the bra yet, but that is not water in that thing.

    Sticks out of all tops.

Sticks out of every bra and bathing suit, making it super obvious that you’re wearing them. I tried 2 bikini tops and one bra, all different sizes and shapes, and the push-up pads were sticking halfway out of all three tops. Don’t get it unless you wear huge bras.

Great boost but they do move

I like that they really do add boost to what I hardly have! However they move ALOT in the bra which was very inconvenient and I ended up removing them pretty fast.

    BAD TO SEW INTO CLOTHING

I gave these to my seamstress for her to sew them into my wedding dress and she called me saying they are leaking oil. I should've read the reviews before purchasing. If you need them to sew into clothing, DO NOT get these. If you are not planning to poke any holes in them, they might work but I can't guarantee.

    Good value

Had them for several months. Inexpensive and work great. I use one on the side I don’t have a prosthetic to give me a boost or on my mastectomy side when I’m just lounging around the house in a bralette.

    Push Up Pads

I have used these for several years now and lost count. The previous pair I had after years of use deflated over time so I have purchased another two pairs. I can not comment on wearing them for swimming as I have not done so. Great for virtually any event where I have needed a little extra. When they deflated I saw nothing leaking from the water they claim to be made with. They were dry so I can not comment on what happened except that after years of usage they finally wore out so to speak.

    Pretty good

It feels kinda of weird and it doesn’t hold against my skin. If the bra you’re wearing is really tight it will most likely work, but not if there’s too much room, then they just slip around. But they were still decent and don’t cost too much.

Allergic reaction to substance used to fill pad

One pad popped and leaked all over my bra, I didn’t realize until the end of the day and ended up with a horrible allergy rash all over my right breast and into my arm pit. Whatever oil is used to fill the pad I am obviously allergic to. I was under the impression that these were filled with water and therefor never considered an allergic reaction in the event it leaked. But based on the oiliness of my skin after the leak it definitely is not water. Very disappointing.
