How much you need to feed your pup can be found on all of our packages which have feeding guidelines as well as our website. A: All Freshpet recipes come with a Sell by Date. You can safely store the recipe in your refrigerator unopened until that date. Once opened you need to use the recipe within 7 days. While our recipes are made to be served fresh from the fridge, you can feel free to freeze any unused portions upon opening. Keep in mind texture and moisture levels may vary after freezing, but this will not change the nutritional value of the food. Life-Changing for My Dog - Thank You, Freshpet!
I can't say enough good things about Freshpet. My dog absolutely loves their food - but more importantly, it has completely changed her life. After doing a food and environmental intolerance test, I found out I was feeding her all the wrong things. She was struggling with constant hair loss, digestive issues, and uncomfortable bowel movements. It broke my heart to see her suffer and feel uncomfortable in her own skin. Since switching to Freshpet, the difference has been night and day. Her hair has stopped falling out, her coat looks healthier, and her stool is much softer — no more straining or discomfort. Most of all, she just seems happy. Her energy is back, she's more playful, and honestly, she acts like she feels like a million bucks. Freshpet has not only earned a permanent place in my fridge — they've earned my complete trust. Thank you for giving my pup her spark back!

I am convinced this food which I thought was a healthier choice than kibble or canned gave my beloved 8 year old dog Candy a tumor in her stomach that got so large it started crushing her liver causing her so much pain I had to put her down immediately upon finding out. It makes me so sick to think about these pet food companies selling us toxic hazardous poison to feed our beloved little children. Never again will I buy prepackaged pet food. I will make it from my kitchen so I know I am not poisoning my little child if I ever get one again. The premature loss of candy is so hard I don't want to endure a loss like this again. Don't poison your pets with this garbage. They charge a lot of money to prematurely kill your beloved fur babies.

my dogs have been eating this food for many years and recently the look and smell of it isn’t the same. It smells different and looks different. I don’t know what they did tin making this food but my dogs don’t even like it

My dog's love it.
I've had my 2 dogs on this food for 2 weeks and what a difference they are more energetic and are even losing weight,my redbone female is 8 and was very lethargic and did not want to do anything .know she's playing ball again and wrestling with her brother Theodore he is 6 a red cattle dog. And has lost 8 lbs and is very healthy looking now.They can't wait to eat .I feed it twice a day and they both lick their bowels clean..Great food it's really made a difference.😁

Change in formula caused itching
Unfortunately, I used to love this food for my dog, but with the recent recipe changes, I had noticed her scratching and itching like crazy. My vet asked if anything had changed with her diet, which led me to investigate on their website that they had added Rosemary to their food. I knew something had changed because it looked and smelled different and not in a good way. My dog can no longer eat this food.

New Recipe - Bad Results

Pet food has mold
Bought a bag of FreshPet from Walmart expire date is 10/29/2025. Fed small amount to our dog twice and then noticed there is mold on the pet food. We have discarded nearly a full bag of the "not so fresh" pet food. Disappointed customer. May need to look into your cold chain process to make sure quality is not compromised.

Why did they change it!
I had to return this a bunch of times thought it was just bad. Found out they changed the reciepe. Tried to contact Fresh Pet, horrible customer service...My dogs won't eat it and it smells rancid and smokey. Don't fix something that isn't broken! Guess we will be looking for a new food...

Why freshpet? The new recipe stinks!
Why did you change this recipe. We have been using your food for 6 years and just recently noticed a Smokey rancid smell to the food we were feeding our dogs which they will not eat. After buying and returning multiple bags because it looked and smelled bad I went onto your website and realized you changed your recipe. Well it’s absolutely awful. You’ve lost a customer and now I’m in search of a new food for both my senior dogs. Don’t fix what’s not broken! Go back to the old recipe!!

What’s happening
The last few bags we bought have a smell that seems like the food has been smoked. My dogs do not like the strong smell. They are reluctant to eat it. I have to remove carrots because both dogs throw them up now. They are not digestible. Now his smokiness is not appealing. I rinse the food with hot water to remove some of the smell. If this keeps up I will have to change brands. The original recipe was good. You need to reduce the carrots not increase them. Lose the smokiness.
