I just got this today. The taste and texture make it very hard to swallow (and ironically it says "Delicious" on the front. I decided to switch to this because Target no longer sells Designer Whey protein and I'm completely out. I mixed it with water in my blender bottle and it's just so gritty and chalky and I think it is stuck in my throat. It doesn't taste like chocolate at all either. I gave it two stars instead of one because it is a clean protein and I think I can mask the texture and flavor when I make smoothies. Also, the jar/bottle is pretty small AND it comes half empty.
When open it it is sealed but it seems like very hard glue seal i took knife to open the seal so i said "this how they seal them" cant open with my barehands so suspicious about this when, i open my container its halfway so anyone has experience like this? I bought mine online for delivery. I need an answer thank u.
I decided to try Garden of Life protein powder after hearing great things about it. However, it did not live up to my expectations. The protein powder did not mix well with water, and even when I added more, it still had a grainy and gritty feeling to the shake. Additionally, it tastes very chalky and the chocolate and protein powder does not taste well together-you can definitely taste the protein powder. I tried mixing this will water, cold brew, and milk, all of which tasted like chalk and didn't mix well. I won't be finishing the container because I can't stomach another horrible protein shake. If you're looking for an amazing organic protein powder, I recommend Tera's Whey instead.
I was really surprised to see that Target carries Garden of Life! Usually I have to go to a natural health/vitamin store or order online. It was really nice to be able to get groceries, makeup and this protein shake all in one stop! I've had Garden of Life's chocolate protein shake before, but hadn't tried the organic formula until now. I LOVE it. In my opinion, the taste is far superior to most protein shakes-so yummy. I know the ingredients are high quality because I've been using this brand for years. This isn't a magic drink by any means-it doesn't work any miracles-but being that it's plant based it's a great source of protein for vegetarians like me. And if you are vegan it's great because it's dairy free! Here's my "recipe" 1 scoop of Garden of Life organic chocolate protein 12 ounces Califia vanilla almond milk 2 ice cubes Shake in blender bottle until smooth. Drink right away. You can also put these ingredients in a blender with a frozen banana and almond butter for a more decadent shake. Overall a great protein shake and excited that Target carries it now. I hope they continue to!
