BHT Still In Cereals 8 years Later

8 years after saying they would removed BHT, IT IS STILL PRESENT IN CINNAMON TOAST CRUNCH! General Mills is just another corporation making empty promises at the cost of consumer health.
1 reply from Cinnamon Toast Crunch team - 1 month ago
Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT) is used in trace amounts in some shortenings and oils to prevent oxidation and rancidity. Though its use is minimal, there have been several misunderstandings and concerns about the safety of BHT. Some people are concerned that BHT might cause cancer. In some animal tests, BHT given with strong carcinogens appears to enhance the carcinogens' effects. But in other tests, BHT actually inhibited the carcinogens' effects. BHT, by itself at high levels, has been shown in two studies done by the National Cancer Institute to be without carcinogenic effects. Similar studies from Japan confirm BHT's safety. Finally, a recent study from Denmark is puzzling to scientists. BHT-treated animals had more tumors, but only after living 50 percent longer than untreated animals. It seems likely that the tumors were a natural expression of old age. These studies, along with other available evidence on BHT, have convinced the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that BHT has no adverse effect on human health as it is now used. If you’re looking for an option without BHT now, many of our cereals do not contain BHT including Cheerios, Kix, Lucky Charms, Reese’s Puffs, All Chex cereals, Chex Granola Mix Cereals, and Fiber One.

I love this cereal which is why I feel the need to ask why BHT is still included in its ingredients? Especially considerjng General Mills declared they were removing Butylated Hydroxytoluene even before 2015.

Have been eating this cereal for decades faithfully and the most recent box I bought tasted much different and not in a good way. It seems like they changed the recipe and it reminded me of the Maltomeal version-close but not the same flavor I have been used to. My son is also a fanatic and he agreed it tasted different also. Disappointed that so many companies seem to changing their recipes I guess in an effort to cut costs but they don’t tell the consumer they just sneak and do it.

Easily the best cereal of them all, with fruity pebbles lagging behind because they've been using rice crispie pebbles lately which make them taste gross and flavorless. Grew up eating this cereal on a daily basis as a kid and now as an adult I still have it but as a desert now to watch my weight. S tier food.

Cleaning product in cereal

How does this cereal have cleaning ingredients?????? trisodium phosphate Is a heavy cleaner. This company is feeing you poison.
1 reply from Cinnamon Toast Crunch team - 3 months ago
We appreciate your question. First, trisodium phosphate is a water-soluble salt that is used in a wide variety of food products. It is approved as safe by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. We use small amounts of trisodium phosphate in some of our cereals to help improve the texture, making every bite crunchy and delicious. Actually, the trisodium phosphate does its work in the dough stage, and then mostly dissolves as the dough is made into cereal, so very little – if any – TSP is present after the cereal is made.

It is used in a wide variety of food products and is approved as safe by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The very small amounts of trisodium phosphate used in a cereal product help adjust the acidity of the cereal dough. Lowered Quality

Product quality is going down just like everything else in America. They lack much cinnamon in taste and mostly taste like wheat. I will have to give it another 3 months before purchasing another box in hopes they are not the same as they've been lately, as I've just been wasting money. If I get another bad box then I will be officially off CTC.
