    When opening this for my daughter I thought the look and smell resembled dog food.. only to come to the reviews and see that people give this to their cats and dogs 😳 makes you wonder why animals love it so much but babies not so much. Won’t be buying again.

    Valuable protein source for sick pup

    My 10-year old dog has been extremely sick with pancreatitis and absolutely refusing to eat anything so the emergency hospital vet recommended Gerber’s baby food in any of the meat flavors. I was skeptical but willing to try anything to bring her home from the hospital. It worked!! She’s still eating very small amounts but it meant the feeding tube could come out. She definitely prefers the turkey over the chicken and beef. Who would’ve thought dogs could eat baby food? I tried it myself and it’s mild, no harsh flavors, with only 3 ingredients. I went to my local grocery store and bought every jar!

    My Son Doesn't Like It

    My son doesn't like it. I've tried offering it to him on like 4 separate occasions and he hated it every time. After one bite he'd refuse any more. I know they say you have to try a food up to 20 times to give it a truly fair shot but my son is really not picky. I've given him a very wide variety of foods (both fresh and baby foods like this) and he'll eat almost anything so that's why I rate this pretty poorly.

    Unbeleivably Poor Packaging

    This is all about shipping. My order came partially filled (4 Gerber Stage 2 Turkey). The rather large box contained 4 separate glass bottles and no packing material at all. Needless to say one bottle broke and the other 3 were covered in food and glass. It was a mess. Having received the same product individually wrapped for protection, I was quite surprised.

    cornstarch, yuck

    After trying Beechnut turkey with broth I thought I would try Gerber because that's what is offered at Target. I didn't bother getting out my glasses to read the label fine print. I tasted it and it tastes like nothing, so I read the label and I am very disappointed to see: "Turkey, water, and cornstarch". Beechnut ingredients are turkey and turkey broth, and Beechnut tastes like turkey.

But, We are not a big gravy family. He wanted it but, he was not a fan of it. I even tried mixing it with rice but, he still didn't want it.

I would rather make turkey and gravy because this didn't taste great. But, it was not bad in a pinch. It also has a resealable top. That makes it more handy than some others I have gotten.
