Q: Is this a stand-alone router or do I need a current one in order to have this to be setup? Or can I just take the cord from my internet provider and plug it into this and get rid of the router that came with the internet router from xfinity?

Simply connect the cable from your internet service provider (ISP) directly to the Nest Wifi Pro's WAN port (the internet port) using an ethernet cable. This will eliminate the need for your ISP's router and provide Wi-Fi coverage for your home. However, it's important to note that the Nest Wifi Pro still requires a modem to function.

A: Hi there. No, the Nest Wifi Pro is not designed to be used as a portable Wi-Fi hotspot. Its primary function is to connect your smart devices and other Wi-Fi and ethernet devices onto one thread mesh network. For your travel needs, a portable Wi-Fi hotspot would be a more suitable option.

Bought this to replace my Aging Apple Time Capsule Router. This device seemed like a reasonable and high quality replacement with simple features. Now, Keep in mind I am an IT Networking Professional of 14 years and I was after something simple and reliable. This is definitely Simple for sure, but absolutely no other redeemable qualities. After about a week the network connection was dead. Had to reboot the this router. Everything worked again. Periodically after about a month or two it would need to be rebooted again. Eventually this no longer became an issue. However we started having issues with devices falling off the network, and refusing to reconnect. Our entire home network crashed several times, needing the unit to be completely reset. Once done, things stabilized, but speeds were slower. Then we noticed networked devices lost the ability to communicate with one another. Printers not being found, TV's not connecting for casting devices, or being found, smart speakers not being found, but yet every devices was still connected to the internet. None of our devices could see each other as this device could not route internal traffic correctly. Due to the simple nature of this router, we had no troubleshooting options. Unfortunately at this point we're stuck with ours, but ended up Replacing going back to the 13 year old time capsule router, which not only had a higher wireless range and stronger signal but operated at 40 MBPS faster than our Google Nest Wifi Pro and all of our network issues were resolved after going back. We decided to replace the entire thing with the Unifi Dream Router mesh system from Ubiquiti, and our home has never worked better. Since setting this up we haven’t ran into any connectivity issues. It was super easy to setup and it’s easy to maintain. We plan to get another to further extend our WiFi.

Before adding the nest we recently experienced slower speed, since using the nest streaming, Alexa devices, and working from home has been all done simultaneously without suffering from slower speed. I've had Google Wifi and Nest Wifi for years and was excited to try out the new Wi-Fi 6E Pro. I'm enjoying the whole home coverage, including strong Wi-Fi in my back yard and garage. I have over 70 devices in my house and love the strong and stable signal that Nest Wifi Pro delivers. I can do clear video calls and streaming everywhere in my house which has two high school kids at home working or playing games on their computers. Nest Wifi Pro is super easy to set up and use. I like that Google offers free parental controls and other free features as well that you have to pay a monthly fee to Eero or Netgear if you get their systems. Google has a history of regular software updates that constantly add new features and improve performance. They recently updated the software on Nest Wifi Pro as well that greatly improved the performance.

There are times that I need to unplug my router to fix the issue. The google nest Wi-Fi pro resolved all my issues with my connectivity. It was an easy setup and very smooth application to use on the phone when setting up unlike others I’ve used. During the couple weeks of usage, I discovered if I lost connection, the device itself would self-diagnose and my internet will be back on without needing to unplug or do anything. Even when connecting 10 devices my speed and range connectivity does not decrease the overall performance.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is rated to cover 2200sq ft. That will cover most homes. This is not compatible with older versions of Google WiFi. To increase speeds it seems to limit speeds to devices not currently "active". Once you use an unactive device for a minute or two the router will provide full speed to it. You can set priority devices via the app to always get full speed and priority treatment. There are two ethernet ports, one for hooking up to your modem and another for a hardwired device.

We usually would have connection issues a lot due to bad signal and it was getting really annoying so we tried this and it works amazingly well! The signal is a lot better, things stream without a ton of buffering. Setup was simple and easy as well! This is a great product and I’m so happy we made the switch, highly recommended!!

Pros about the system is high consistent speed it creates and convenient guest access with phenomenal speed as well Set up for easier than expected and once plugged in app has complete access and control of my internet. With kids and multiple devices it is so easy to control what they watch and duration as well. Can’t miss the design ,it blends in well with the home decor and is not like a typical square devices we try to hide often. Wi-Fi 6G support is a good to have feature when investing on a mesh Wi-Fi router. Coverage has been strong across the house. There were deep corners which were kind of a weak spots to stream my projector , it has been getting excellent bandwidth and speed now. We cannot combine the older versions of nest /Google Wi-Fi into a single mesh network. Router is very smart and proactive to optimize performance automatically and quickly fix common issues by itself. Overall it is a very good buy if you are connecting multiple devices across different areas of house. Especially when kids are accessing their own device.

Lots of buffering and slower speeds. So we decided to change things up, and got the Google Nest WiFi Pro. I’m so glad we did. I’m not really technologically inclined. Thankfully the Nest WiFi Pro makes it easy. The Google Home App walks you thru set up/installation, in a step by step process. Once we got it up and running, I definitely noticed a difference. I stream a lot of shows, and my son plays video games. I’m happy to say, we haven’t seen any buffering. That’s a huge win for us. Everything is much faster. The Google Nest WiFi Pro monitors itself, and can fix certain network problems. It automatically updates, so it keeps us secure. I am really impressed with how it works. I’m a fan!

My devices would always lose connection speed or not be able to connect. I added the Nest Wi-Fi Pro directly connected to my network router and went thru the setup in the google home app. It was really easy to install and now all of my devices connect with ease to the Nest device. It has a strong Wi-Fi signal throughout the house and I would highly recommend it to anyone who needs a quality Wi-Fi hub. Pros: Quality signal Easy setup Sleek design Cons: Haven’t encountered any yet

I absolutely love how minimal and aesthetically pleasing it looks. Setup was very easy (through the Google Home app) and the speed has been fast and consistent. One router covers 2200 sq ft and we have multiple devices connected and everything is running smoothly. My favorite feature is the option to prioritize a single device on your network, which is very helpful when you’re trying to get work done.

While i could have gotten away with just two of those, this is supposed to replace those units but the coverage is actually pretty spotty. My home is only 1300 sq feet and the devices that are further away are really struggling. I am hesitant to pick up another unit but at this point i will have to do that or move back to older versions. I seem to have to turn this on/off to fix problems of devices not connecting correctly or not even finding the network. I didn't have any issues with the google pucks so unfortunately i wouldn't recommend these until they fix the bugs (as as result of it being a new product).

It has provided my home with better wifi than any router we've used yet and we've tried several. We kept having places where there was bad service but not anymore! This device reaches every corner of our two floors. No more waiting for shows to load! It's easy to set up and use the controls and everyone in the house is happy with it.

Now with the Nest Wi-Fi Pro, I’m able to set up my speakers with no issues. Kids love the speed in offers. When kids don’t annoy the wife. Happy wife happy life. I would highly recommend getting a Nest Wi-Fi Pro. Pro— slick design, offers great speed, great distance Con— would be nice if they made it wireless.

My son is a gamer and his bedroom is in the basement so he didn't get the best wifi before this. He said he gets better pings now and can play his game a lot better without issues. The set up was easy too. I do wish the outlet was more simple in shape and didn't cover more than one plug.
