Hamilton Beach Programmable FlexCook 6 Quart Slow Cooker 33861

I just went to use this slow cooker for the second time. Imagine my surprise when after 8 hours of cook time, I went to serve the food and the chicken was raw. We tested it on all settings & the thing doesn’t work.

I was excited to use the flex slow cooker, but after using it only 2 times, it stopped working.

I got the Flexcook Slow Cooker for my birthday this year and used it to cook my collard greens for Thanksgiving and the container was leaking when I poured the water in the pot. There is a fine line crack in the liner. I did not get any use out of this product. Very disappointed.

Received this as a wedding present and absolutely loved using it and used it quite often! I was very disappointed when I went to wash it one day and saw a hairline crack in the insert. I didn't even have it for 2 years yet and am more sad that it's just out of warranty and it was a gift so I don't have a receipt either. It was always handled carefully and hand washed so I don't know if there was a fault with the insert.

It is great to cook low and slow all say theb swutch to warm when I am late from work. I made a three pound pot roast and it was juicy, tender and the best pot roast I ever made! Dual settings allow for cooking perfection and easy to set up. I did read the directoons first!

The crock size, shape and handles made lifting it for use in serving simple. The instructions for each manner of use were straight forward and correct. I would only ask that a few recipes were included.

I did receive this product in exchange for my honest review but it did not sway my giving this slow cooker five stars. I haven't had much time to use the Slow Cooker since I received it but I know it's going to be used a lot in my household. I cooked a five pound whole chicken with potatoes and the Cooker still had room to add other vegetables if I chose too. I used the manual timer just to get the feel of using the Cooker. You need to read over the manual a few times I think to fully get the instructions down pat. The only thing that would add to the FlexCook would have been for the cord to be able to wrap around the bottom of the unit when storing. What makes this Slow cooker so nice is that it does give you the different options on preparing your meal and being able to begin cooking it at a certain time and knowing when the cooking time is over your meal will be kept warm until you're ready for it. Love this product from the design to the programming and the size of the pot. I would recommend the FlexCook Slow Cooker to all my family and friends.

Great product, sure beats the one I had. Being able to program the slow cooker and do another project is a great help when there is much to do. Great size and features like being able to cook the meal then snap down the lid to transport to party without spilling then plug it in to keep food warm what a blessing. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The cooker came packaged with a see through lid, a ceramic pot, a users manual and the very nice smooth stainless, trimmed in black plastic, base unit. The first meal was a 5 lb chicken that came out perfect! I loved setting the Flexcook up first thing Friday morning and having everything but serving ready to go when I got home, with the added benefit of not heating up the kitchen in Georgia's July heat. The controls are easy to use and allows a lot of flexibility, basically just put in the ingredients, turn it on, choose the time (or times for each cycle). It will take care of the cooking and switches to warm at the end of the programmed time(s). A very nice feature of this model is the "latching" lid, (not for use while in the cooking cycles) that makes it easy to transport the cooker to where you wish, without the worry of spills. The lid also has a seal that minimizes leakage and stops the annoying lid rattle when you travel down the road. Please note the base does get warm, which is not an issue with me (I have callused hands), but otherswill find an oven mit or towel useful. Clean up was a breeze, I did not use the dishwasher (and usually don't on cooking tools), but is dishwasher safe. The only problem I encountered was I prepared a meal for 8 or more and there were two of us to eat it. You may want to keep this in mind if you dislike leftovers and adjust recipes accordingly.

The Hamilton Programmable FlexCook Slow Cooker makes it easy by allowing cooking times that fit my personal schedule. Using the FlexCook Mode at a low setting enabled me to slowly cook a whole chicken allowing the seasoned flavors from the vegetables and spices to set in while I went off to work and second a setting completed the task at a higher temperature, so that once I got home all I had to was cook rice and uncork a bottle of wine. Amazing it almost makes going to work fun, I said almost. Clean-up was a breeze or so my daughter says. She was able to transfer the leftovers and remove and clean the stoneware easily. The FlexCook option makes it easier to guarantee my recipes will cook properly and be ready when I get home from working all day. I also like the rubber seal on the lid so no heat can escape and my food cooks evenly.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is very good. I really like the wire clips on it for transporting it places. The lid fit very good--it had a gasket on it and also had a vent hole. I used the manual mode and it was easy to program. I liked that it counted the time down for me (instead of me trying to remember how long it has been cooking). The only problems were the crock is a little to heavy for me and I had trouble trying to program the the flex cook mode--it is a great feature.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just got this cooker earlier in the week. Replaced an old round crock pot. Loved the oval shape. Makes it much easier to cook large roast or ribs. I just did ribs yesterday and found it much easier to put 3 racks worth of ribs in it. Everything cooked wonderfully and the built in timer was very nice. The only issue I have is with the hooks. They are designed to lock inner pot in place for transport. Great idea for traveling with it but they should fold out of the way when they are not needed. I got caught on them twice during kitchen counter top use. Otherwise this is a great cooker.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Slow cookers have come a long way. The Hamilton Beach Flex Cook slow cooker is amazing. This is not a heavy crock pot that is to heavy to carry. The Flex Cook Mode is great. You can cook on two different heat and time settings. You can start on high, finish on low and then it will automatically switch to warm after the programmed time. You can adjust the time during the cycle as well. What a wonderful feature. It also has a program mode if you only want one heat and time setting. This setting also switches to warm after your programmed setting. This feature of switching to warm allows you to keep the food hot without overcooking or burning. Wonderful. Programming the slow cooker is easy. The lockable lid is also great. How many times have I tried to transport food in a crock pot and spilled the liquid.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's been years since I've had a slow cooker. I made a vegetable curry and used the multiple program setting. Since I'm so out of practice, it took a little trial and error to figure out how long to set the cooking time, but the the food came out perfectly. I have a dump cake in it right now, and it's wonderful to "bake" without heating up the kitchen. This slow cooker is easy to program, and it's nice to have the option of setting x hours at high and x hours at low. As a vegetarian, I'm looking forward to being creative.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got this 4 days ago and love it! It is very attractive with the stainless outside. It is lightweight and easy to handle, yet very stable on the counter. This is a 6 quart cooker, but does not seem to take up too much counter space. The lid fit very well. The gasket on the lid looks like it will need to be cared for gently, but time will tell. I have cooked ham and beans, pot roast and overnight oatmeal with great results. No hot spots or burning. Because this has three cooking modes, manual, flexcook, and program, I recommend reading the manual before starting, but it was quick reading and easy to understand. I do not have a lot of recipes requiring flexcook, but I like having that feature when I need it. When the cooker finishes its programmed cooking, a chime sounds. I was very happy that it was not an annoying chime, but I think it could have been two chimes instead of one (easy to miss it) and maybe slightly louder so that it could be heard in another room. The handles have metal arms that lock the lid down for transporting. I love that feature for taking to potlucks. I would like to see them be able to fold down further to allow better access to the insert, but it's not a major issue. One design feature that I think definitely needs improving is the insulation. The outside of the cooker gets very hot. Little hands reaching up could get burned. All in all though, I am very happy with this slow cooker. It will definitely be staying in an easy to reach spot on my shelf!

It's flexible in that I can preset the cooker on low only, or I can set it to cook for say 5 hours on low and then 3 hours on high, or simply to warm. These are terrific features and I love my new slow cooker for all these great options. I love the lock feature on the lid, keeps the heat in the cooker and allows me to carry out to another location. I love this cooker!
